a lot of people really like ashfur and he is a very interesting character! especially since hes gotten a far more prominent role as the most recent arcs main villain. theres also just a lot of songs that fit his story
I haven't read the recent arc, and yeah I understand.
Personally I'm not a fan of Ashfur since they kind of... destroyed his character just to have an antagonist for the third arc.
Him being bitter about how he has treated makes sense. But for that to suddenly become obsessive to the point of him being willing to murder several cats? To me it felt like it came out of nowhere. The writers just used a cat that had even a tiny reason to want to expose their secret, and made him evil. (Then brought him back over 10 years later because he was popular)
And there being a lot of good songs is also I think a part of what bothers me? Because yeah, you can make an animation with 500 different songs, but they'll all have the exact same story. There are a lot of songs about love and bad relationships, but they are all very similar.
For example I love Evil Spottedleaf AUs. Their songs could also work for Mapleshade too, but the MAPs not being about Mapleshade, but a completely different character is what makes that AU unique.
I really don't want to sound like I'm judging people but seriously... The third arc ended in 2009, I've seen fire scenes animations since I was a kid. His story is not even that interesting to me, especially when people only focus on his rejection in the second arc.
Ashfur is an interesting character, I agree, but he's not the most interesting in the series, and I really don't feel like enough happens in his story to make that many MAPs about.
