When I was in my late 20's, I participated in a personal growth seminar. One of the lessons I was reminded of was the importance of showing my family and friends that I love them by doing something for them. My grandparents who were in their late 70's at the time came to my mind. I thought, "I love them and of course they know I love them." However, I became aware that I didn't go out of my way to go see them or talk to them so I wondered, "How can they really know that I love them?" I decided to take Heather and Logan and go see them once a month. Our relationships with them blossomed! Sometimes, fear can keep us from getting close to the older people in our lives because we know we're going to be sad when they're gone. Often, this is an unconscious fear so we don't even know this is happening.
