Pain is a significant distractor. She found that out some time ago, and the reminder just feels like bullying at this point. It’s not fair, to go through and succeed in trials set in some alternate dimension, only to come back holding the injuries, and different as well.
It’s the fact that she didn’t ask for these flowers, that’s the oddest. That, and she’s never turned green before, no matter how buck wild she’s gone with her manipulations. That’s less important than the fact that she’s managed to keep the knife that Katherine gave her, still lodged in her person and making trying to speak extremely painful.
Confused and somewhere near delirious with her anxiety, Miriam ends up wandering, pacing and trying to find a recognizable face. It doesn’t take too long, considering how unique Remy’s appearance is. Desperate and excited, she tries to yell for him, only to be greeted with pain.
Attempt two: making as much ruckus as possible by throwing the change from her pocket right at Remy’s back. Acknowledge her.

illyana learned something quickly: this place was nearly as dangerous as limbo. at least in limbo one knew to always expect danger, to always be prepared for a knife in the back - what else would one expect when surrounded by demons? she had made a mistake, let her guard down. a stupid mistake.
note to self: be more careful around guards, she thought to herself as she slammed a hoof into one of the guard’s stomach. there had only been a handful and she’d been raised on war and violence, it hadn’t been much of a fight. the comments about being demonic and unholy and monstrous hurt more than the scratches and bruises she had received.
the sound of someone nearing her caused her to tense, claws curling around her wooden sword. it was useless, her magic even limited was better, but the sword gave her comfort. she spun around, wooden sword pointed in the direction of the sound. “try to lay a hand on me and i will rip your tongue out.”

“where do you think you’re going?” the demon cyborg’s eyes are narrowed. he stands in front of a thief holding plenty of stolen goods. by chance, while shopping, he managed catch hold of this thieving, and now he stands before the criminal can escape.
with two grocery bags in hand, genos stands defiantly in front of the thief. not exactly the image of a threatening hero, but he continues to speak, justice the only thing on his mind.
“turn yourself in or be eliminated. your choice.”

Thor would not like this. Thor would definitely not like this. Getting people to play games that he wins through cheating so he can get money isn’t exactly moral, but really, who thinks these games aren’t just scams? If both parties know it’s a scam, is it really wrong? Yeah, probably, and Loki wasn’t proud of it but this was how he had survived before Thor found him and he just needed to get enough money now and then he could be the picture of morals later. It wasn’t like he was stealing wallets anymore.
“Oh, wrong card! Bad luck.” Loki put on a tiny pout, looking sympathetically at the woman as she moved on. He then turned back to the street, trying to catch the eyes of passerbys, pout turning into a bright smile.
“Who’s next?”
Double Disaster: Overlay pt. 1
They weren’t sure where the scream came from--themselves? Someone else? As soon as the quartet agreed on a name, the pistol descended violently into the condo, centering in the center of four very startled people. Light shone from the hole in the roof, highlighting the beacon kit before them.
(“...Jesus. It’s already intense.”) Mumbled Anda, being the first to break the silence.
“So uh... the idea is to just, shoot landmarks. Right? So theoretically, we could all just walk to the beach and shoot wherever?”
A look was given to the silver, screen-equipped pistol displaying Double Date in blue.
“...I’m not picking that up. That’s way too much responsibility.”
They nudged it with their shoe to the next person.
“Unless anyone else has any ideas...?”

after a long day, Titus likes to be at home with his girlfriend, but when she’s busy, he always has other plans. nothing special of course, but he’d been absent from one of the bars he frequents lately, so that was high on his priority list. there was something comforting about the familiar atmosphere and the myriad greetings as he sat down on his usual bar stool. he was swiftly handed his usual drink, which he took with a grin. while taking a hearty swig, he caught sight of the man sitting next to him. a familiar face, somewhat.
perfect, actually.
“Long time no see. Now, I ain’t tryna be too direct or anything, but I was wondering if you were up for a business proposition?”

Soon enough, she gives up on approaching people piece by piece. There are too many, and too many limitations to what she can do right now. In normal times, she could gather up people in droves, scan them all, hiss her orders and have them listened to without another word. Nevertheless, she eventually finds someone who pulls up a little bit of her interest, Katherine waving a hand from her cafe seat to try and catch the other’s eye.
“Say now, do you know how these cabs work? I’m hoping that they’re more than a one time use.” Being friendly is a good way to tempt the other closer, to make it easier to rifle through without detection. Someone here has to have something she can use. Why not this one? “As you can see,” she laughs, as if making fun of herself. “Getting around is a bit difficult.”
