If MT was given the chance to become a king again without causing havoc would he do it?

Hoo HOOO!

Not gonna lie anon, I've been staring at this ask for a while debating whether or not I want to answer it now or after I get done with "In the Week that Follows"

Because one of the chapters is gonna explore a little bit into King's past (and more specifically how King got Gold)

But that being said, it wouldn't hurt to delve a little bit into my own headcanon for King

So here's what I'm thinking,

King's name/title is King because he's from an old abandoned/unfinished medieval Flash game from the early 2000s. Eventually, an outside stick figure breaks into the game and offers the sticks inside freedom and a way into the Interspace world. From there King starts his new life and gains a baby along the way, but that's a story for another time

So yeah, that's how I think King's backstory goes

And to answer your question, if he was given the chance to go back to being a king, I don't think he would

He left that life behind many, many, years ago and only brought it back out when he needed to assert his dominance

He's fine with keeping the name "King" thou, a little reminder of the past doesn't hurt (usually)

King Headcanon:

Since King is a squirrel first and foremost, a lot of human things are incredibly complicated for him to understand. The following is a list of some of those things.

Reading. He knows they are symbols, but he can’t read. At most, he can parrot.

Counting and the concept of numbers (but he can identify things based on quantity or size. So he can pick out the larger pile, find a small red book, etc). He cannot read numbers, nor can he remember many of them. He knows one, two, and four; and always mixes up seven and eleven. Eleven is the biggest number he can remember.

Time. Since he can’t read numbers, telling the time is impossible. However, he can measure it by the sun. He knows he can tell how early or late it is by where the sun is.

The idea of clothing being gendered.

Automatic doors and elevators (the former is a ghost and the latter is teleporting and you can’t convince him otherwise)

Fridges and ovens. Author has caught King in squirrel form trying to stay in the fridge three times while he tries to see how it works when the light is off.

The fact that the earth is round. That’s just too big of an idea for a little squirrel or human-disguised squirrel.

King Headcanon

I’ve mentioned the idea to friends before, and I think I’m going to run with it.

King is the closest I intend to get to playing Mark himself. With all my Ego muses, I headcanon that they were all destined to be Egos in some shape or form, and King is the best example of it. He’s only three years old, so the foundations of the channel were long in place by the time he was born. Many of King’s mannerisms and behaviours match up a lot to Mark’s - brave, goofy, loyal, a good sense of character and decision-making, etc - but he is still rather young mentally. As he grows up, the similarities become more obvious as he becomes a little more grounded. He’s still finding his footing with the whole ‘king of the squirrels/woods’ thing.

Not only that, he was born with an innate fear of Dark, despite never seeing him until well into his adulthood. He’ll do what he can to avoid Dark where possible.

If Mark himself likes or trusts an individual, rest assured that King will have the same natural draw to them.

King Headcanon:

He's a dad! Only a few have survived thus far, but if you ever spot him in human form cooing at some little squirrels, they're his little kits! It's more common in human form because they love the idea of their dad turning into a giant climbing frame.

If he goes out of his way to introduce you to them (and you didn't stumble across him with them), King trusts you immensely.
