Images of Black women have been hypersexualized and judged in multiple ways throughout American history and the media. This show investigates the complexity and power of black femininity, and celebrates all forms of the black woman. Shutterbug Contest!
Hey shutterbugs!!!! The King Arts Complex will soon be providing an area for an ongoing “Living the Dream” photography exhibit. Show us how you are “Living the Dream” by submitting photos of you, your family, friends, events, sites and gatherings. We want to collect cell phone generated photos from YOU that represent the rich cultural flavor(s) of our community. You are welcome to submit up to 5 photographs and if chosen…you will be notified and they will be hung in the main corridor. Photos can be submitted via facebook @King Arts Complex, twitter @KingArtsComplex, or instagram @thekingartscomplex. All you have to do is tag us or tweet at us and use #kacshutterbug! We prefer submissions are square (like an instagram photo is) but if it’s not and yours is selected, we will crop it for you. If you’re not sure where to take some photos, you could always start tonight at our Heritage Concert! If you do, make sure you add #kacheritage! Looking forward to “seeing” you!
