Back with The Kingdom! It has been 245 months since Dappledstar led his cats to the mountains and build a home for his descendants. I’ve been thinking about their culture and developing some lore for the world as well as playing their rival “clans” and taking notes! So the regent tends to wear parts of reindeer or deer antlers they’ll find as a crown. The royal family have genetically unusually strong neck muscles or something and that’s seen as proof to why they should rule. It’s also common for them to wear feathers in their fur. Often to represent wings. They believe that when they die, a part of their soul is reincarnated into a bird while the other part is their legacy or memory who looks after them as a spirit and deliver prophecies or knowledge to the more spiritual royal cats. (Common cats can also have strong connections to their ancestors but they’re not often believed). They still hunt birds but some are more hesitant to hunt certain kinds of birds, like ravens or eagles. The kingdom craft “ropes” out of skin from prey and the few plants they can find.
Shinestar the loyal: Came out as non-binary! They are 154 moons old and is doing a lot better now, though, they are quite old and does not have the energy they had in their youth. Shinestar focuses more on training Bravefreckle to take over one day than leading the kingdom. Bravefreckle is their half sister and previous apprentice so Shinestar has a lot of faith in her loyalty.
Bravefreckle: took over after Shardcrag got killed during a badger attack in one of the few hunting places not on the mountain but in the forest below. Heatherfur and Ermineburst (Erminepaw, Shinestar’s last apprentice) also lost their lives in the attack. She had a fight with an eagle and chased it off but got injured in the process. She’s still mates with Mountainchase but doesn’t have the same amount of time to hang out with her friends as she used to. She mentored Splashclaw (Splashkit) and has tried her best to learn everything she can to one day be a good queen. She is now 41 moons old.
Shiveringshade: is doing great as a medic. He’s just become mates with Sweetie and their relationship is adorable. His children are all warriors now and he’s really found his place in the kingdom and is one of the more respected commoners.
Downy: is a newcomer who used to be a wandering healer. He is 78 months old, charismatic, good kitsitter and a great healer. He’s lived in the kingdom for half a year and is settling in nicely.
This is when I realise I forgot one of the new medics because they look so similar to Shiveringshade…
