from /r/vexillology Top comment: Canada's flag is great as it is, there's not much symbolism here, just the national colors, red and white, along with the maple leaf. Australia uses the national colors of green and gold. I have 8 stars, for 6 states and 2 territories, surrounding the Federation Star. It's designed in a way meant to remind one of the Eureka Flag. \*New Zealand isn't really my own, I used Kyle Lockwood's design/format here, just used a different version of the silver fern (national symbol), switched the colors around, and used a darker blue. The UK also uses a darker blue here. Crown and lion for England, Welsh Dragon for Wales, St. Andrew's Cross for Scotland, and St. Patrick's Cross (Ireland).
