You giggled madly as you pulled Mingyu past the attractions and towards the maze. You love corn mazes. You loved the puzzle of it all, of trying to find your way through. It was a challenge and both of you had a competitive streak so you knew you would get caught up on trying to get out as quickly as possible. A part of your mind wondered if there was a record you could beat, if your could be the fastest to get through the maze.
“Slow down,” Mingyu chuckled as he tried to keep up with you. Even though he was taller and you figured he should be able to keep up easily, but the uneven ground had him tripping over his feet as you made a beeline for the maze.
“Can’t slow down. The only thing I now care about is the maze,” you replied, making him laugh
“It’s just for fun!” he said.
You threw him a look. “When do we ever ‘just have fun’ Competition is fun.”
“Well I’m not competing with you,” he chuckled. “I’m doing this with you.”
“Yeah, but I wanna be the fastest,” you grinned.
Mingyu laughed as you finally made it to the entrance of the corn maze. The day was cool and cloudy which was nice. It wasn’t too busy and you were glad there were only a handful of people in the maze. You noticed Mingyu looking at the corn around the two of you with an amused smile. You started to wonder what was going through his mind, but you were soon at the first fork in the path. You looked down either path, contemplating which way to go.
“Which way do you think is better?” you wondered.
Mingyu looked between the two. “I’m not sure, they both look like they go somewhere.”
You pouted your lips thoughtfully before making a decision and pulling him down the path. As you continued into the maze you muttered to yourself, trying to parse out the best way to turn ad Mingyu wandered along behind you.
“Do you have a strategy?” Mingyu chuckled.
You felt your cheeks heating up a little. “Not exactly.”
He caught up with you and took your hand. “I figured.”
“I’m just excited,” you pouted.
He pressed a kiss to your pout. “I know you are. I just think it’s really cute how passionate you are about this maze.”
You rolled your eyes as a good natured smile tugged at your lips. “Okay okay enough with the cutesy stuff, back to getting out of the maze.”
Mingyu seemed to slowly get more and more into getting through the maze with you. He groaned with you any time you hit a dead end and smiled with you when you seemed to make the correct turns. You did notice that he let you make the decisions on which way to turn and any time you asked him which way to go he spent too long deciding until you choose for him.
As the afternoon wore on you started to get a little tired and wanted to get to the end of maze. You started to pout and jump, trying to see over the stalks.
Mingyu started to pull you down the path. “Come on, I think we’re almost through.”
“I feel like we’re lost,” you whined.
“Well I feel like we’re almost there,” he smiled.
Mingyu started to lead you through the maze and you could hear the din of people taking in the other attractions getting closer. He only took seconds to decide at each fork as he led you closer and closer to the end of the maze. As you came out the end of the maze you gasped.
“Wait! Could you see over the corn the whole time?!”
Mingyu blushed. “Maybe.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?!” you pouted.
Mingyu kissed the frown off of your lips. “Because I didn’t want to ruin your fun,” he hummed. “Now, apple donuts?”

He is giving you the very manifesto of Zen. Myself of long ago, in nature . . . I have disappeared in nature, I don’t know when, I have not kept a diary and I don’t remember that I was anything else at any time.
Myself of long ago, in nature non-existent: I don’t find myself, I find only nature.…
