Please explain the vision of Kinro/Ukyo. I beg of thee. I love Kinro and you know I love Ukyo but I can’t see it rn. I can imagine their dynamic but I only ever remember them having one interaction outside of Magma going “mwahaha let’s kill all of Tsukasa’s fellows” and Kinro responding, “We agreed to do exactly the opposite of that. And the rules are the rules.” Then he looks at Ukyo and Ukyo smiles at him. Do they ever speak outside of this?
I’m not opposed to it. But I’m an avid Ryusui/Ukyo (yeah I know but I think they have a cute dynamic, also having a sailor and sonar guy together is cute. Not saying Ryukyo is better, just more my style I think?) guy who also loves toxic Hyoga/Ukyo for angst potential and Tsukasa/Hyoga/Ukyo for EVEN MORE ANGST (I’m SHOCKED this isn’t a ship anywhere I’ve seen. This would be so good for angst fics. Ukyo betraying both and Hyoga stabbing Tsukasa that one time and also Ukyo that one time. Tsukasa’s like 20 I think when he’d revive them. So it works age-wise kind of). I think Ukyo and Joel have a lot of potential for some reason. I’ve also been leaning towards Ukyo/Senku recently due to some cute fanart… but enough about that!
I think it’s funny to have the lawfully good guy and the morally good guy together. It’s cute. Ukyo’s a little sly, which balances out his strictness nicely I think. But I still don’t quite see the vision.
I would very much like to add another Ukyo ship to my happy little Ukyo pocket in my brain.

Being real, the goal is that eventually I'm just going to incorporate the vision into the story and convince other people to like it by (hopefully) doing an okay job on that ship as a subplot in Pink Ears once we enter s3 territory, but I won't miss a chance to yap.
I landed on Kinrukyo initially a while back when I was thinking a lot about the shipping in this show, which I was having trouble really getting into because I honestly like a lot of the dynamics better as platonic friendships than romantic ships. And unfortunately for me, a certified Ukyo obsessed person, the one I was having the hardest time with was actually Ryukyo (personally, I just don't see it at all; what I picture each of them wanting out of a romantic relationship clashes too much, and they don't really have that much in common). I wish I could ship it, I'm happy for people that do because there are definitely a lot of fanworks for it out there. It's just not my cup of tea. But I do love Ukyo. So I was like: Who the hell would I ship him with then, if anyone?
There are a fair few Ukyo ships I do enjoy, and I still stumble upon more as time goes on (top of the list besides Kinrukyo right now are Ukyo/Joel and Ukyo/Carlos, with Gen/Ukyo, Senku/Ukyo, and Chrome/Ukyo as honorable mentions in order of preference). But Kinrukyo was my first longshot (they don't talk much in canon, but granted neither do Ukyo and Joel or Ukyo and Carlos—even Ukyo and Ryusui don't have that many moments 1 on 1) that I looked at and was like "... wait am I cooking?"
The crux of it is that on the surface, it's a kind of funny ship, and their dispositions are such that I could picture a lot of quietly funny interactions, but when you dig into it, I think it'd also be a really healthy dynamic. Quoth my notes (because yes I already had notes on why I liked this ship, I do that when I'm thinking things out): "They’re both chill, but they’d also balance each other out in an interesting way. Kinro is direct and honest where Ukyo tends to keep things to himself if he’s unsure of what might happen if he speaks up, and on the other side Ukyo is easygoing and has a bit of a subtly fun/mischievous type of side to him (teasing Gen with having figured out his game without making a direct accusation comes to mind). It would be a dynamic where Kinro helps Ukyo with being more direct with his opinions while Ukyo helps Kinro loosen up from time to time. They also offer each other a nice break from the insanity of everybody else. It’s actually a lot of the same reasons I liked Ugen, but with a different, calmer energy to it that I think would be cool to see."
Thinking this through also happened to spawn a few Kinro headcanons (some of which apply exclusively to this ship), such as that he's easily flustered (based on him already being easily flustered in a different sense in canon), that his type is lithe guys with white hair and strict codes of honor (he had a puppy crush on Jasper when he was younger), and a couple other things I think I'll keep in my back pocket for now (not big spoilers or anything, but cute in a way I'd rather show before telling). Those siphoned back into reasons for me liking the ship as much as I do, and now here we are.
It's best described as a serene ship, I think. They'd be each other's place of calm.
Plus, they're both in the "I got stabbed by Hyoga (and everyone forgot about it) club", which I find equally tragic and hilarious!
