Also, there was Moon Moon.

Now we're talking
Lucid dreams?
I’ve experienced lucid dreams a few times in my life. They’re kind of annoying, because usually what happens is something like: I have a magical broomstick that can fly! I realize I’m dreaming, and now I can’t get the damn broomstick to fly anymore because broomsticks can’t fly, dammit.
Supposedly, some people can take control of their dreams after they’ve realized they’re dreaming. I’ve never been able to change my dreams in any significant way, though. I usually either wake up immediately after, or forget and the dream goes back to being a normal dream (or as normal as dreams ever are).
My moirail asked me, “Have you ever looked in a mirror in a dream? I’ve heard your reflection never looks right in dreams. Also, if you try to write something in a dream, it won’t work, it just looks like gibberish.” I’ve haven’t experienced the writing thing, but I have experienced the mirror thing before. It’s freaky.
Supposed “expert” lucid dreamers say certain “triggers” can cause you to realize you’re in a dream. This person mentions checking your watch, or even just looking at/trying to make sense of numbers. I found out drawing might be this kind of “trigger” for me last night.
The dream was pretty scary. I was in a big, rundown hotel somewhere in the mountains with my friends. I went outside to get something out of the car, and there was an older man wearing a crumpled suit in the parking lot who started following me. The man chased me when I started to run. He had a really intense, bug-eyed expression on his face, never blinked. His hip joints didn’t seem to move properly, in fact his whole upper body was kind of flailing when he ran.
I ran back inside the hotel. My friends helped me shove a heavy desk against the door so the man couldn’t get in. The power was out and the hotel was dark, lit only by candles. My friends asked me what had happened, then what the man looked like. I pulled out a sketchbook, and while my friend held a candle, I tried to draw what the man looked like. I remember drawing the round shape of his face, the bug-eyed features. Then my friend asked a question, I looked up at them to answer, pencil still moving. When I looked back down, parts of the drawing had completely changed from what they’d been a second ago. Instead of an old, bald man I’d drawn a young man with black hair, and instead of a modern, crumpled suit, he was wearing some kind of Victorian suit with a fancy high collar.
“Why did my brain draw this?” I asked aloud. The second I heard myself say this, I realized I might have been dreaming. That wasn’t the exact thought, it was more like, “Something is wrong here…” After that, the details of the dream become muddy, and I woke up soon after. Anybody else had lucid dreams?
As far as I can determine, there are only three things my moirail and I truly disagree on: the existence of God, whether "Easy Like Sunday Morning" is a good song, and whether salad toppings constitute a meal.
things I’ve seen my moirail eat: • hemp oil out of a squeeze bottle • bags of croutons (salad topping) • bowl of orange tic-tacs with two monster energy drinks • whole brick of mozzarella cheese • jalepenos out of a jar • entire packet of turkey bacon • chocolate, as a meal • he once came to a fancy wine tasting party with several boxes of frankenberry cereal and a bottle of arbor mist wearing a suit
One time my friends had a fancy, dress-up wine-tasting party, where everybody was supposed to bring a bottle of their favorite wine and a food to go with it. My moirail, completely un-ironically, brought a bottle of Arbor Mist and four boxes of Frankenberry crunch.
