Quick personal thoughts on the Gameoverse pilot
Yesterday, GLITCH Productions released the recent pilot to Gameoverse, a project that creator Ross O' Donovan has been developing for eons before the glitchy bois picked it up themselves, about a cat girl & Schlatt trying to save every video game world from being 100% completed.
From what I've read, some ppl seem to be quite divisive in regard to the Gameoverse pilot w/ some liking it while others say otherwise. If anything, Gameoverse might be the most polarizing pilot Glitch has released thus far, but what do I personally think of the pilot & do I agree w/ some of the criticisms surrounding it?
I'll start w/ what I like about Gameoverse first: The animation is really good. It is a very stylized take on what 3D games used to look like decades ago, low poly & simple in design & some of the choppiness of the character acting makes it's visual presentation all the more charming to look at. Voice acting is pretty solid, Kit's having to be my personal favorite & the delivery on Kaboodle's dialogue is pretty good too. I wasn't so sure about the overall concept surrounding it's premise, but I did manage to get used to it & understood it a bit more as the pilot was wrapping up. I also like the score too, which is fitting since the duo behind it are video game music alumni themselves.
And now for what I don't like about Gameoverse: I think we can all agree that the pacing is a little off & makes some of the more dramatic moments in the pilot feel rushed & unwarranted. In addition, the timing on some of the dialogue feels less professional & more so along the lines of baby's first audio mixing, which sucks cause again, I like the voice acting in this pilot, but I do wish the overall runtime was stretched out a bit more or at the very least cut down on some of the dialogue, so that certain moments wouldn't feel as artificial. The way the ending is executed especially blows as there isn't enough room for the last few seconds of the score to breathe before abruptly transitioning to a tribute to the late Monty Oum. Don't get me wrong, it's nice that the Gamoverse team added that memorial in since this entire pilot was dedicated to him, but the way it was executed makes it feel less of a sweet moment & more of a Smiling Friends bit, no offense. Back to Kaboodle, I don't know what went wrong during the production of this pilot, but Schlatt's audio recording for his voice of the character feels very low quality compared to everyone else, which wasn't the case when the original teaser dropped. There's even a scene it took from the pilot where the audio on Kaboodle sounds much cleaner than what ended up in the final product. While on the topic of voice acting, Arin's audio for some of the characters he voiced sound a lil' too echoey, especially w/ his performance on Flappers, but at least it's not as much of an issue as the former. Also, Kit's backstory feels the most rushed aspect of the entire shindig. Maybe when this show gets picked up, we'll have a better explanation in regard to that aspect of her character, but for now, everything about her origins feels like one big afterthought when this script was being put together. Also, the visuals for the end credits fucking sucks!! Not to mention that it best represents how I'd describe the entire Gameoverse pilot in general, very style over substance.
I've honestly never seen an indie pilot this rough in it's execution since Cliffside, but at least w/ Cliffside, it was Liam's first attempt at creating something ambitious. Ross on the other hand, Gameoverse's creator, has had plenty of animation experience throughout his life & I wish his scriptwriting for this pilot is on par w/ his art, especially in regard to its worldbuilding, pacing & Kit's character in general. But for now, Gameoverse is a 5 out of 10, so far at least.
Can't wait to see posts of ppl pissing on the Charlie Kirk statue in my home state soon
Feels good to be a New Yorker :D
Just thought about inflating a balloon & releasing the air into Elon Musk's cloaca so that he can experience queefing for the first time as a result of reading that he might potentially acquire Wikipedia for 5 billion (Obviously fake since the Twitter acct who posted it is a parody-based one)
What a strange world we live in
Why do ppl like Dream again? Cause everything I've heard from this guy is nothing but purely unfiltered poison
Even before he became the subject of many controversies, I was never interested in what he's been up to
Nothing but a laughing stock in my personal opinion
Kaufmo, more like Cuckmo hoihoihoihoihoihoihoihoihoi
I honestly wish someone had the opportunity to upload every Twitch stream Butch Hartman has made one day because this clip has fascinated me for a long ass time. Something along the line of an unofficial VOD channel dedicated to Hartman's Twitch streams over the years.
