Aaaaannnd here’s Lenka! Hewer’s mate and confidant. Where Hewer is soft-spoken and kind, Lenka is cold and quick to become aggressive.

If Kirin are a hybrid subspecies of Umbracorns and Kuros, and Kuros sometimes breed with Kirin, is it possible for these kids to be so Kuros-like that they're classified fully as Kuros, with maybe a Kirin trait here and there? Like an Allus and a Kirin have a child that looks like an Allus, but maybe has hooves instead of talons on their back feet?

MOD: With the Kuros they’re pretty breed-purists so they likely would still identify them as Kirin. The Umbracorn themselves do subconsciously want their hybrids to be just pure-blooded Kuros and it’s one of the main reasons why they enter into these contracts, but the Kuros themselves wouldn’t ever consider them full-blown Kuros unless they’re born between two full blooded Kuros.

However, privately a Kirin hybrid that far removed from it’s Umbracorn blood would likely call themselves a Kuros!

Yo! thought I’d post a quick size comparison of Hewer and Lenka, my Kirin pair. (sans-manes/beards for clarity)  Hewer has a slightly longer frame to support his longer neck, and is just bigger in general.

Some things about Kirins, in my lore, under the cut:

Because Kirin are creatures that naturally mimic a draconic appearance, they can share the silhouette of any fr breed. their lack of wings, long whiskers, and cloven hooves always give them away though (they blend best with PCs and imps). Kirin can also never match the size of the larger breeds, and can get only as big as the largest known draft horse, so their mimicry only really works from a distance. This is fine though, because they pretty much keep that distance unless provoked in some way.

Kirin can purify water simply by walking across its surface, and can use their gift to tread humid or foggy air, and treat clouds like solid ground. Kirin traveling through the air in dry climates must summon clouds of moisture around their hooves to do so. It’s said that a herd of Kirin crossing a desert will bring heavy rain in their wake, but Kirin have never been seen in more than a group of 3 at a time.

Kirin are intrinsically lucky creatures, and can choose to bestow this luck onto others with innately good hearts, but befriending a Kirin is incredibly difficult thanks to their naturally secluded nature.

Kirin are intelligent and surprisingly playful. They manipulate the world around them with a combination of their highly mobile whiskers, and magic.

Kirin reside naturally in both Wind and Arcane territory, although rare sightings are seen in the depths of the Viridian Labyrinth. 

idc if anyone wants to use this lore btw! (Kirins are different than fr Qiriq and aren’t related to them) and! if you’ve bought one of Hewer or Lenka’s kids, you can totally shove this into their bio somewhere if you wish. :>

If Kirin are Umbracorn and Kuros hybrids, are there other types of Dracocorns? Maybe Qilin or Sin-you?

MOD: As far as other kind of Dracocorns, yes that is entirely possible! I actually had plans to incorporate Kirin hybrids between the non-Kuros and unicorns! The practice of crossbreeding though is very frowned on by Chroma society, moreso than it used to be; ever since our fourth species of unnamed dragons started to gain more influence with the Chroma, the Chroma tend to never crossbreed anymore. Nowadays it’s more common with the Dunewyrms to crossbreed with the unicorns, and other species as well. Dunewyrms can practically crossbreed with anything tbh! There’s an idea I’ve had floating around of a Dunewyrm+Naga hybrid, specifically, where it’s essentially a Dunewyrm without hind legs and more snake-like features. (I’m sure you’d be the expert on that type of dragon too hue)

And as far as Qilin or Sin-you hybrids, that is entirely possible! Not exclusive to the Kirin species, though.
