Finally finished decorating my new kitchen, I'm exhausted but no rest for the wicked as I have a night out to get ready for.

It’s a little bit blurred but it’s one of the only pics I’ve got from what was a really good night! When I started planning our festival a kitchen disco never entered the line up however after @bbcradio2 mentioning their bank holiday Monday one I thought it was a great idea. And how nice it would be for our friends to join In too. It was strange all of us in our own houses listening to the same music, some dancing, some sitting, some drinking, some eating. Just like they would if we had been together. I came away from our kitchen disco having had a good time. It wasn’t as good as being together in person laughing and chatting but for in this crazy time we are in right now it was good enough. I’m so thankful our friends joined in with our crazy plan and embraced #arcfest vibes. #kitchendisco #arcfeststayathomfestival #disco #stayathomedisco #familyandfriends #momentsofmine #makingmemories #familymoments https://www.instagram.com/p/CAkFgaBl5C-/?igshid=ebg3nnpl43gq

Let’s take a moment to big up cauliflower. For a brassica so beige, it packs a punch. And that punch goes by the name of protein. Vegetarians, whenever carnivores throw the P word at your meatless mouths, you just shout cauliflower right back at them. You could also shout mung bean sprouts or pumpkin seeds but, well, syllable overload.
This recipe even calls cauliflower slices “steaks”. Point much? Watch your biceps bulge as you eat this.

Thanking this ravenous-Ron-Burgundy-wrapped-in-foil delight for the moral of the day; Do not perch on your love life folks. Unless you’ve got fowl desires and an insatiable silver suit. Or, you’ve got food desires and insatiable soup recipes like this

For the amount of garlic in it, it will get you off your perch though.
Deffs intrigued by what a Georgian Kiss could be. Do the lads have to wear breeches? Do we have to curtsey before we gerrin there? If so, too much effort. A less prude pash on the palate is this tomato and fish broth c/o Nigel Slater.
I crossed cultures and added a Gremolata on top (because I had no dill) and a simple side of boiled potatoes w/spring onions but I have a feeling this would make a more lighter, well balanced meal with some stewed greens on the side. The broth is even tastier the next day, so be stingy with your ladling if you want loadsa leftovers (recipe heartily serves 4).
TOMATO FISH BROTH
It was intriguing to come across a soup seasoned with sour ingredients. The version I ate in Helsinki was made with what they call pike-perch, but any sustainable white-fleshed fish that holds together well can be used. Serves 4-6
onions 2 medium
olive oil
garlic 1 clove
tomatoes 5 medium-sized
fennel 1 small bulb
button mushrooms a couple of handfuls
water or vegetable stock 1 litre
gherkins 2 medium sized
olives 16
parsley a few sprigs
dill 3 bushy sprigs
white fish fillets 500g
soured cream 4-6 tbsp
Peel and roughly chop the onions. Soften them in a little olive oil in a heavy-based pan over a moderate heat. Peel and crush the garlic and add to the onions. Roughly chop the tomatoes and add to the pan. Let them cook to a slush with the onions.
Finely slice the fennel and mushrooms and add to the pan. Cook for a few minutes until the fennel has started to soften a little. Pour in the water or stock and bring to the boil. Turn down the heat and simmer for 20 minutes, adding salt and black pepper.
Slice the gherkins, stone and halve the olives, chop the parsley and dill and set aside. Lower the fish into the stock and cook for 3 or 4 minutes until the fish is just opaque. Stir the gherkins, olives, parsley and dill into the soup. Correct the seasoning and, if you wish, add a little of the liquid from the gherkin jar. Ladle into warm bowls and add a spoonful of soured cream to each.
