I was tagged by @katries! And in the true spirit of overengineering things, I used a random number generator so I didn't have to pick the fics myself. Here goes, in no particular order!

Thumbtacks - Darby Allin x Emery

Emery didn’t know what it was about Darby Allin that drew her in, but for some reason every match he had, she would find a monitor and watch.

He wasn’t a friend and they hadn’t talked much at all since All Elite had signed him. In fact, the only conversation they had was when he had scowled at her and called her the Elite’s favorite doll—and the only reason she got signed was because of how close she was with the VIPs.

That hurt her a bit if Emery had to be honest, but it didn’t sting to the bone. A part of her felt like maybe he was lashing out because he was afraid to get close to people. Or maybe he wasn’t sure how to make friends that easily.

Either way, after watching his most recent match, Emery found herself walking through the hallways looking for him. She was determined to get him to be civil—at the very least. It didn’t take long before she stumbled upon him, sitting on top of an equipment crate.

He was hunched over slightly, his elbows resting on his knees. Sweat was glistening on his back as blood slowly trickled down from the numerous thumbtacks he had lodged in his skin. Emery had cringed when she watched him get flung into the pile of tacks during his match.

Wordlessly, she walked up and gently placed a hand on his shoulder. He jumped a bit, startled at the sudden contact, but didn’t move when he felt her other hand start picking out the tacks. Darby straightened up slightly, keeping his eyes forward and not muttering a word for a while. He was grateful for the help but confused as to why she was doing it to begin with.

“Why are you doing this?” he eventually muttered, keeping his attention front-facing.

“Because I care about you, okay?”

“Why? I’ve been nothing but an ass to you,” Darby frowned before he rolled his shoulder, pulling it away from her hand, “Just leave me alone….”

Clenching her jaw in annoyance, Emery refused to back down as she put her hand back on his shoulder and returned to pulling out the tacks.

“Shut up and let me help you,” she told him, “Just face it, Darby, you’re stuck with me now—whether you want to be or not.”

To her surprise, he didn’t pull away from her again and had no other biting words to throw at her. As he sat there, letting her work, Darby was grateful that she couldn’t see the smirk hidden on his face.

Maybe she wasn’t too bad of a person after all.
