When a young Dean wishes upon a star for love, and that Star is none other than Castiel, a new timeline begins. Bound to Dean's wish yet somehow unable to make it come true, Castiel starts to question the authority of Command and their rules.
Why can he not fulfil Dean Winchester's request?
What exactly is preventing Castiel from doing so?
As a conflicted Castiel watches Dean and his brother, Sam, grow up from afar, he finds himself wanting. Never before has Castiel seen a human with a Soul as bright as Dean's Soul. He knows this one is special to the universe, to the Void. If the foreign magnetism of human feelings pushing and pulling at Castiel's Being tell him anything, it's that he's drawn to this Soul. He's drawn to the Winchesters.
In the midst of an approaching civil war between the Stars, being abandoned by Father in the blink of an eye, Castiel, sent to Earth on a heavenly mission, finds Dean.
Or as Fate would put it, Dean finds Castiel.
Keep reading for a sneak preview!
Slumped in the backseat of a parked car, his cheek pressed against the window, Dean gazes up at the night sky, almost as if he can sense Castiel is watching from above. Sam is curled up against Dean’s shoulder, a thin blanket thrown over his sleeping form. Their aura screams restless. Peering into their souls, Castiel is surprised to see how Sam can be at rest considering the distressed state his inner being is in. His soul, like Dean’s, is peculiar. What has caused such unrest?
Dean, as Castiel would expect, is wide awake. The guilt lingering in Castiel’s mind threatens to resurface the moment he realises Dean is crying. His soul is buried under a flood of conflicting emotions, so much so it’s boiling over into silent tears. It pains Castiel to see Dean in such a state, wondering what could’ve caused such a rift in Dean and Sam’s peace.
They had been happier back in Lawrence, or at least settled. The Winchesters’ way of life is one of loyalty to their own, paired with this uncanny tendency to uproot themselves from a community and move onto a new one in a manner of months. Dean and Sam’s single father, John, continues to be a source of irritation to Castiel, as the man continues to be as absent to his troubled sons as Father is to Castiel and his brethren. The brother’s souls live in an ebb and flow of confusion and short-lived content, Castiel has seen it with his own eyes. More than ever, Castiel simply longs to bring Sam and Dean any sort of repose from the overhanging darkness. He would right this moment if Castiel weren’t bound by the laws of his own abilities. As always, one would have to ask him first.
“Hey, what’s got their souls so stirred up, huh?” Gabriel asks, his head poking over Castiel’s shoulder. Castiel groans, wanting to remain alone, yet his older brother will have nothing of it. Fingers placed upon his console, Castiel turns in his seat.
“That is what I am trying to decipher, Gabriel.”
“Oh. I see,” Gabriel quirks an eyebrow. “For what reason?”
“If you’re here to lecture me, don’t bother with the small talk.” says Castiel, his line of vision locked on Dean and Sam. Dean’s sleeping now, albeit unsettled, so he decides to pull his gaze away from the brothers and waits for Gabriel’s word. It doesn’t take much effort to deduce Gabriel’s reason for visiting with no prior warning. Castiel, in the heat of the moment, had told Command he had failed a wish. A reckless move, and one that should’ve resulted in him being exiled.
Why hasn’t he?

i just found your art, and i had to come over here and say how goddamn beautiful it is!! i’m a sucker for destiel, and every time i see one of your works, i’m inspired to write more fics :) so thanks for that! keep up the great work!!
THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY LIKE--
There is nothing in this world that makes me smile bigger than when I hear my art inspired someone to write or draw something -- or cosplay it, or WHATEVER IT. I just love people creating things so so so much and literally my whole goal in life is to help people feel like they can create stuff (even if they aren’t “the greatest in the world”).
The world is just better when people are creating things <3
So thank you for telling me that, and THANK YOU FOR BEING AWESOME
