For me- nounself pronouns are just another form of gender expression. There are no words that exist that describe my gender- so I do my best with what already exists.
I use Kittenself because it feels like sometimes my gender is close and tangible (like a kitten sitting on your lap) but other times erratic and hard to grasp (like a kitten playing).
Its also important to know that most users of nounself pronouns are neurodivergant (like me), so we may express or process things in a different way then other people. It doesnt make us wrong or weird, its just another way of experiencing the world.
My pronouns aren't me trying to "force you to call me a petname" or "forcing you to be sexual". These are pronouns, a descriptor, not a nickname. And you adding sexual connotations to a word is your own issue. Just because it *can* be used in a sexual setting, doesn't mean that its inherently sexual. (Its the name for a baby cat for heavens sake)
Its okay if youre uncomfortable. I would appreciate it if you could try to reassociate the word and become comfortable with it- but its okay if you can't. Thats why many of us have more then one set of pronouns! Communicate, compromise, and if all else fails then its okay to leave.
