The details of the storyline in your masterpost were super intriguing, those are what inspired the dark matter-esque background!! I did take a lot of creative freedom with it, so hopefully it matches your idea of his abilities ;v;

Please tell me someone supported Arthur without constantly comparing him 😭 Did the other generals have his back? It sounds like he was under a lot of pressure.
the thing with the gsa is that it operates under a very heavy class based system. upon news of his promotion, everyone, including the other generals who had been his equals and/or friends for many years up to that point, were expected to display a deeper amount of respect. it might've been nice at first, but over time that new position and responsibilities inherently left a sense of distance. there wasn't a lot they could say that would mean much, or that was even their place to say. ultimately, the position of leader was meant to be a burden that one person takes on behalf of everyone else
many years later, arthur bitterly realizes that he had been complicit in treating the former leader the same way the others now treat him. despite how much they cared for her and how beloved she was by the people, it was superficial in that no one ever offered her that care on any deeper level. and so, he resigns himself to the same fate he subjected someone else
the empty chair of general still needs to be filled, though, and at this point it's long overdue. one day, arthur decides on a whim to personally investigate a strong candidate for the position, who's staying on the main base for an indefinite amount of time. someone who, despite his capableness and loyalty to the army's cause, has a penchant for blatant disregard of the system and authority

Hello! First of all, I love all of your OCs. After learning that Can-Dee Narwhal collects little trinkets for her anglerfish girlfriend, I wanted to work that into the piece. Lowkey got a bit carried away with the idea of a storybook-type thing about her helping around town to earn money to buy her girlfriend balloons. (Because balloons are cool, imo.). I also wanted to add your other OCs because I wanted an excuse to draw them. I hope I did them justice!
