"I've never heard anyone sing as pretty as you." - Klaine
It was a stupid app that changed everything.
Lately, Blaine had started to realize that this was his final year in college. After this year, as long as he didn’t completely fail, would be it! He would never see these people again. Some people whom he’d had classes with for over 3 years and still didn’t know more than just their name! He started to feel more emotional about it than he should have. What if his new potential best friend was sitting among the rows of the lecture hall, all this time, and he’d been ignoring them. Blaine had decided to join a bunch of people from his class for lunch since everyone use to just sit together. It wasn’t one of those “You had to be invited” things, it was one of those “If you’re alone, come and sit with us”.No one even blinked an eye at Blaine when he sat down, just shuffled across to give him space to put down his tray of food. He knew he’d have to explain to Kurt later tonight why he hadn’t eaten his lunch and had bought from the cafeteria again, a nice tale about someone sitting directly on top of his bag and squashing the sandwich Kurt had made into a soggy mess, though, thankfully his laptop was in his hands at the time.
The table were all in the middle of discussing a video, a few of them giggling, some of them bopping along, and Blaine found himself interested as he glanced across and noticed a video of two people singing, though the bit that was making people laugh was how one girl seemed completely surprised, and the other looked like she was loving herself a little too much.“What on earth…” Blaine laughed when the cell phone was turned in his direction and he could see it clearly, watching the video and shaking his head a little bit.“It’s this app called Sing! It’s like, karaoke, and you just sing along with people, or you can sing by yourself. It’s kind of fun. I can’t sing, but I am on it all the time. Here, give me your phone I’ll get it for you”
-x-When Blaine arrived home later that afternoon, he was surprised to find that Kurt wasn’t around. Confused, he searched the house, noticing a note stuck to the fridge.Got called into work. I told Nick you can’t trust a fox. Be home later xBlaine laughed, shaking his head a bit before he started to get out of his clothes and into something more comfortable. When his cell phone bleeped, he assumed it was Kurt texting him, but, weirdly enough it was that stupid Sing! App giving him a notification.
Blaine groaned, instantly going into his settings to turn the notification off before he actually took a second to look around. The App asked some questions, what genre of music did he like, and if any of the songs that appeared, however, when he saw Wouldn’t it be lovely from My Fair Lady show up, Blaine grinned and clicked on it just to see what this app did. He didn’t tend to sing much anymore, not because he couldn’t, but because he didn’t really get a chance to. He’d put aside his performance dreams and decided to focus on something that would contribute more to society. Plus, he soon realized during the first semester of his music degree that he actually hated everyone there, and really thought it was a toxic environment. Blaine wasn’t sure how long had passed since he’d first clicked on the app, but he found himself caught up in it. He was doing duets with strangers, some of them sounded amazing, some of them, not so much, but he would still leave encouraging messages saying “You were great!” at the end. It was fun. It actually made him laugh. He’d tracked down a pair of headphones, and started to really belt out tunes, sometimes he’d laugh and instantly quit a song when he realized he didn’t quite know all of the lyrics. Sometimes the video was on, and he’d record himself singing, other times he would be walking around his bedroom, singing, with the camera off. As he searched, he found some solo audio for All of me, and he loaded that up, clearing his throat before the song started, before he really started to sing it out, though, he had switched his camera OFF for this one. He glanced out the window as the music started, smiling as he looked down at the street below before he started to sing.
As he finished, he watched as the app told him he’d gotten a score that he still wasn’t sure what that did exactly before he pulled his headphones out of his ear, turning around and instantly holding his chest when he noticed Kurt was standing in the doorway.“JESUS! You scared me. Hey” He grinned, though instantly felt his cheeks grow hot because he realized Kurt might have heard him “When did you get in?”Kurt didn’t say anything, his ears were hanging a little, his tail was curling at the end instead of swishing around, his eyes were a little watery and his eyelids were starting to redden, which instantly made Blaine’s face drop “What’s the matter? What happened?”
Blaine quickly crossed the room to approach Kurt, throwing his phone on the bed, and reaching out with both hands to gently hold Kurt’s arms, looking him over to see where he was hurt.
“I’ve never heard anyone sing as pretty as you“ Kurt said softly, swallowing hard before he looked into Blaine, their eyes locking instantly. Blaine stared at the hybrid for a few seconds, his eyes searching his face, still concerned, a little worried, before he felt himself relax, giving Kurt a small smile.
Blaine gave a small laugh, he was a little embarrassed he’d been caught singing at the top of his lungs “Yeaaaaaah, well” Blaine breathed out, giving a small shrug “I’ve never seen anyone as pretty as you, so I guess we’re even” he grinned, before he leaned forward, pressing a small chaste kiss to Kurt’s lips “So how was work?”
