It all started because of a stupid college project. You didn’t expect much when you saw the partner list taped crookedly to your professor’s door. You definitely didn’t expect your entire life to shift sideways like a Jenga tower someone kicked too hard. You expected the usual:
pray you don’t get paired with someone who thinks group project means you do everything
mentally prepare three different passive-aggressive emails just in case
and hope the semester slides by without setting anything on fire
But then your eyes landed on your name next to:
Lee Felix
And your stomach did that annoyingly warm thing. Felix a.k.a the sunshine-haired boy with freckles scattered like glitter and a voice soft enough to soothe a feral raccoon. The one who sat by the windows every lecture, doodling little stars in the margins of his notes. The one who seemed to be friends with everyone. The one who smiled at you once because you dropped your pen, and your brain lagged like bad WiFi trying to reconnect.
Great.
You were doomed.
You were early to your first meet-up but Felix was already there. He was pacing around the table with a strawberry milk in one hand and a stack of sticky notes in the other, mumbling something about adding glitter to the projects. Then he saw you. “HI!” He practically lunged toward you. “You’re Y/N, right?” he asked, breathless.
You blinked. “Yeah?” He grinned so wide his eyes became crescents. “Awesome! Amazing! Perfect! We’re partners!” You stared, stunned by… all of that. “We’re gonna absolutely DESTROY this project >:)” he declared, punching the air triumphantly. Then he paused. “…in a good way. Like academic destruction. The positive kind.”
“I like your confidence.” you said. Felix leaned over the table. “I like your handwriting.” You froze. “My… handwriting?” He nodded seriously, already reaching for your notebook like it was a sacred artifact. “What pen is this? Why does this look so neat? Did you write this in a warm cozy bedroom with a candle burning and soft music playing? Be honest.”
You laughed loudly, embarrassingly. Felix’s face lit up like you’d just handed him a trophy. “I’m serious.” he insisted. “Your handwriting looks like if sunshine could form letters.” (couldn't be me my handwriting is shit) “You just met me.” “And yet.” he said, dramatically placing a hand on his chest, “I know these things.”
You raised a brow. “Really?” “Really. My instincts are NEVER wrong.” He paused. “…Except about macarons.” “Macarons?” He sighed, shoulders deflating a little. “I’ll explain later. It’s a tragic tale.” He sat down finally, spreading his notes out with the enthusiasm of a kid unpacking presents. And even though this was supposed to be a simple meeting, something about the moment felt...
Easy. Natural even. Stupidly comfortable, like slipping into an oversized hoodie. You two clicked in a way that felt suspiciously like fate. Like a puzzle piece snapping in place. Like the universe winked at you and whispered, “Oh, just wait.” You felt it then that small, warm spark in your chest. And you didn’t know it yet…
But Felix felt it too.
Later that day you were on the floor of Felix’s dorm room, your legs stretched out, his legs tucked criss-cross like he was meditating, papers fanned around you both like a chaotic academic crime scene. Three iced coffees sat abandoned one yours, two his because Felix drank caffeine like it was a blood type.
Dreamy lo-fi beats played from the small speaker on his shelf, mixed with warm synths and soft vocals. (I just know he listens to lo-fi) The lights were dim. The room smelled faintly of sugar cookies and the strawberry milk he’d spilled earlier. It felt cozy.
Dangerously cozy.
Felix leaned back on his palms beside you, hoodie sleeves pushed up, freckles softened by the warm glow of his LED fairy lights.
“We’re doing great.” he said, impossibly proud of your color-coded slideshow. Like you had just written a Nobel Prize-winning thesis instead of a communication theory project. “Yeah.” you said, nudging his knee gently. “I actually like working with you.” Felix’s cheeks warmed instantly pink and soft, before looking away. “Well.” he said shyly, fiddling with the drawstrings on his hoodie, “I really like working with you too.”
Your chest fluttered. And then-
His phone buzzed...Then buzzed again...Then buzzed five more times like it was possessed.
Felix flipped it over with a tiny, annoyed huff. Your eyes… did not look away in time.
Hyunjinnie 💗:
did u eat

HE’S DOING THE HEALTHY THING

You blinked. “…Felix,” you finally said. “Why does your phone look like that.” Felix peered at the screen, giggled, and shrugged like it was the most normal thing in the world. “Oh!” he said cheerfully, “they’re my boyfriends.”
…
“…Plural boyfriends?” you repeated, because maybe you were having a stroke. “Mhm, all seven.” Felix said, beaming. You stared at him. “That’s…” you paused, then gave up. “That’s a lot of love to manage.” Felix nodded seriously. “We take turns.” You coughed. “Take turns with what exactly?” “Everything!” he chirped. “Cooking, laundry, who gets the shower first, who gets the last piece of cake, who braids my hair...” he trailed off.
You cut in, because your brain had derailed. “They… braid your hair?” “Minho does,” Felix said. “Chan tries, but he gets frustrated. Hyunjin makes it pretty.” You held up your hand. “Stop before I hear something that breaks me emotionally.” Felix giggled and nudged your shoulder. But then he added casually, “And before you ask, yes. They know about you.”
Your heart somersaulted. “…Why?” Felix shrugged, like it was obvious. “Because you’re my friend.” he said softly. “And I talk about you all the time.”
Your brain combusted.
“You what?!” “I tell them how fun you are. And how smart. And how you explain things in a way that makes hard stuff easy. And how you always smell nice, like vanilla and paper or something.” “Felix.” you whispered. He blinked at you, wide-eyed, innocent, devastating. “What? I’m just telling them the truth.”
“And they… don’t mind?” “Mind?” Felix scoffed. “They’re curious!” That word alone sent your stomach into chaos. “Omg wait-” Felix gasped suddenly, eyes wide. “Do you wanna see what they said about you last time??” “Felix NO-”
But it was too late. He scrolled. And scrolled. And scrolled.
🐰 Minho:
if one more person breathes near our sunshine i’m biting them

You covered your face with both hands. “Kill me.” Felix shook your arm excitedly. “Nooo! They LIKE you!” “They don’t even know me!” “That’s why they wanna meet you.” he said simply. Like this was a perfectly reasonable chain of events. He lowered his voice suddenly. “...I want them to meet you too.” You swallowed. “Why?” you whispered.
Felix looked at you like you were a puzzle he had already solved. “Because..” he said quietly, “you’re important to me.” Your breath caught. “And I think…” He smiled, gentle, warm, almost glowing. “…the others will really like you too.”
The invitation was not optional. Felix said it so casually like asking you to pass him a pencil, not like inviting you into the gravitational pull of seven men who adore him. “Come meet them!” he chirped, tossing a gummy bear into his mouth and catching it perfectly. You blinked at him, horrified. “I don’t wanna intrude on your… seven-way date night.” Felix burst out laughing. Like, full-on wheeze. Then clapped his hands like an excited seal.
“It’s not a date night!” he insisted, wiping at his eyes. “And even if it was trust me, you wouldn’t be intruding.” You folded your arms. “Seven boyfriends, Felix. Seven. That is literally the definition of intruding.” He leaned forward on his hands, chin propped up, freckles glowing under the warm LED lights. “Y/N.” he said in the softest, most deadly tone, “they will be thrilled.”
“I dunno…” you muttered, fiddling with the hem of your sleeve. “What if they don’t like me?” Felix blinked. Then his whole face dropped into the most dramatic expression of disbelief. “Don’t like you?” he repeated, voice rising like you personally offended physics. “They already like you.” “You don’t know that.” “Yes I do,” Felix argued, pointing at you with a neon pink highlighter like it was a microphone. “You’re funny, and sweet, and you explain theories in a way even Han could understand.”
“Is Han… not good with theories?” Felix cackled. “He gets distracted because he tries to eat the paper.” “Felix.”
“I’m serious! One time he actually-”
“FELIX.”
He giggled harder, leaning into you until your shoulders touched. An innocent little bump that sent actual sparks ricocheting down your spine. But then he looked at you with those big, sparkly, kitty eyes. The eyes that could convince you to do anything. “Please?”
The request wasn’t desperate. Just honest. Like he really, genuinely wanted you there. Like it mattered to him. You sighed. The type of sigh you already regretted. “Okay.” Felix’s entire soul lit up. “REALLY?!” he gasped, grabbing both your hands like he might start bouncing. “You’ll come? You’ll actually come?!”
You tried not to smile, but it broke through anyway. “Yeah” you said. “But only because you asked nicely.” Felix squeezed your hands. “No.” he corrected softly. “You’re coming because you’re important.” He didn’t seem to notice the blush on your face, already texting his boyfriends like a kid announcing snow day cancellations.
You watched his thumbs fly over the screen, little hearts and exclamation points and emojis everywhere. And as you sat there, watching him radiate sunshine you realized something terrifying.
You were excited too.
Their apartment felt like a whole universe. Warm lights. Soft chatter coming from somewhere down the hall. The smell of garlic, soy sauce, and something baking. Music playing faintly something upbeat and cozy. You barely had a second to absorb the atmosphere before Felix pushed open the door like a kid entering Disneyland. He didn’t even step inside. He just shouted at full volume:
“BOYS! SHE’S HEEEERE!”
You flinched. The apartment did not. It EXPLODED.
Something crashed in the hallway. Something sizzled dangerously in the kitchen. Someone yelled, “WAIT WAIT WAIT STOP, THE SAUCE” And from the living room came the sound of stomping feet approaching with terrifying speed. You instinctively grabbed Felix’s hoodie sleeve. He giggled. “They’re excited.”
Excited sounded like an understatement.
Bang Chan appeared first, slipping around the corner with a smile that could single-handedly end wars. Messy hair, rolled-up sleeves, warm eyes that made you forget your own name. “Hi.” he greeted, voice soft. “We’re so happy to finally meet you.” His dimples popped and your heartbeat stuttered.
Before you could reply, someone drifted into view behind him like a model making a runway entrance.
Hyunjin.
Tall. Silky hair. Art in human form. He blinked at you slowly. “I’m Hyunjin,” he said, crossing his arms gracefully. “And Felix talks about you constantly.”
Felix made a squeaky noise. You opened your mouth to respond but then someone cleared their throat with the attitude of a CEO ready to fire you.
Lee Know.
He leaned against the wall like it was a photoshoot backdrop. Arms crossed. Eyes sharp. The tiniest smirk tugging at his lips like he already knew all your secrets. “Do you eat?” he asked bluntly. “Um. Yeah?” “Thought so.” he muttered, giving Felix a look that said control your friend. “I EAT!” you protested, offended. “Mmhm.” Lee Know hummed like he didn’t believe you for a second.
Then came Jeongin barreling down the hallway with unmatched enthusiasm, socks sliding on the hardwood floor. He tried to stop. He did not succeed. He bumped into Chan and nearly took them both out.
“HI -oops-HI!” he sputtered, cheeks flushed. Before you even recovered from that, Han appeared from behind him, waving both arms in the air like he’d spotted a long-lost sibling. “HIIIIIIII!” he screamed at a pitch only dogs could hear. “Oh my god you’re REAL FELIX WASN’T MAKING YOU UP!!” “Why would I make up a person?” Felix protested. “You’ve done it before.” Han said seriously.
Changbin strolled out of the kitchen holding an entire pot of pasta with one hand, flexing unintentionally like an action movie extra. “Sup.” he grinned. “You hungry?” “You’re scaring her.” Hyunjin said. “I’m welcoming her!” Changbin argued. “You’re THREATENING the pasta!” Han yelled from behind him.
Seungmin entered last, closing the door behind you with a tired sigh that gave “mother of seven chaotic sons.” He looked you up and down once. Not judgmental, just calculating. “Sorry about them,” he said. “I tried to calm the apartment before you came, but then Felix yelled and Han fell down and Minho threatened the rice cooker.”
“I DID NOT THREATEN IT!” Lee Know snapped. “Minho.” Seungmin said sharply, “you told it you’d throw it out the window if it beeped at you again.” “It beeped at me disrespectfully.”
Han’s voice echoed from the kitchen: “YOU THINK A RICE COOKER CAN BE DISRESPECTFUL??” “It knows what it did!” At this point you weren’t sure if you were dreaming, hallucinating, or had accidentally stepped into a sitcom. Because within seconds you were surrounded.
Eight men beautiful in completely different ways, chaotic in dangerously similar ways, affectionate in a way that made your heart ache, all staring at you like Felix had just brought home treasure. Chan stepped a little closer, smile gentle. “We’ve heard so much about you,” he said. Hyunjin nodded. “So much.” Han added, “A DISTURBING amount.” Felix gasped. “Guys!”
“You talk about her constantly,” Jeongin confirmed helpfully. “Like, constantly.” Changbin echoed. “Every day.” Seungmin deadpanned. “He even threatened to fight Minho for saying you were probably normal”
“I SAID YOU’RE PROBABLY NICE,” Lee Know corrected. “That’s not what Felix heard.” Han whispered loudly. And Felix red-faced, hiding behind his hands groaned dramatically.,“Oh my god, you guys are ruining EVERYTHING!”
You could feel it already. The spark of something you couldn’t name yet.
You barely had your shoes off before they all descended like affectionate, over-excited golden retrievers in the bodies of ridiculously attractive men. Chan stepped forward first because of course he did, he radiated “responsible dad friend” energy from ten meters away. “Tea? Coffee? Water?” he asked, already moving toward the kitchen. “A hug?” You blinked. “A hug??” He froze mid-step, ears turning pink. “Sorry. Force of habit. Felix brings home people who need hugs. Or… who I think need hugs. I can dial it back.” He smiled softly dimples deep, eyes warm and something inside you short-circuited.
Hyunjin, meanwhile, had apparently taken it upon himself to decide you were cold. He reappeared with a fluffy blanket, draping it over you like some kind of ethereal mother hen. “It’s breezy near the window.” he murmured, tucking a corner near your shoulder. You hadn’t even been standing near the window.
“Hyune,” Seungmin said, unimpressed. “The heater is literally on.” Hyunjin narrowed his eyes. “Let me nurture.” Lee Know circled you once like a suspicious cat evaluating a newcomer. “Are you scared of cats?” he asked abruptly. “Oh uh, no?” “Good. Mine bite. It’s a loyalty test.” You weren’t sure if he was joking. Felix assured you later that he absolutely was not.
Han popped up so close you almost fell back. “HIIII.” he sang, voice bright, “you smell nice.” He paused. Froze. “Was that weird? It felt weird. Okay, I’m gonna walk away and pretend I didn’t say that.” “No!” Felix called. “Stay! She likes you!” “I do?” you whispered. “YOU DO!” Felix declared for you. Han beamed like you’d just adopted him.
Changbin entered carrying an entire pot of pasta with one hand, biceps doing very illegal things. “Hey.” he grinned. “Do you work out?” “Not… really?” “You should.” he said immediately. “I can train you.” “Bin.” Chan sighed, “we talked about this. Stop recruiting guests.” “No. I’m friendly.”
“You tried to make the mailman do squats.” Seungmin reminded him. “And he liked it!” Seungmin himself sat curled on the couch. He stared at you with his deadpan, unbothered face. “…she’s cute.” he announced. You nearly died on the spot. “SEE?” Felix yelled triumphantly. Seungmin shrugged. “I’m just stating facts.”
Jeongin rushed up next. “Do you like games?” he asked breathlessly. “We have games! All of them. Board games. Card games. Rage games. Mario Kart where Han cries every time he loses.” “I DO NOT CRY,” Han shouted from the kitchen. “You cried last time tho.” Jeongin replied calmly. “YOU HIT ME WITH A BLUE SHELL AT THE FINISH LINE!”
You stood there, wrapped in a blanket you didn’t ask for, surrounded by eight beautiful men all talking over each other, offering you drinks, hugs, board games, gym training, and emotional support. And through it all, Felix glowed watching it unfold like his favorite show. “See?” he said, looping his arm through yours, practically vibrating with pride. “I knew you’d fit right in.”
You tried to swallow the laugh bubbling in your chest. Because somehow… impossibly… terrifyingly…You actually did.
Chan’s food is criminally good. He set the bowl in front of you with a shy smile, dimples peeking out. “I hope it’s okay.” he murmured, rubbing the back of his neck. “I added extra garlic… Felix told me you like garlic.” Felix told him? Felix talks about you that specifically? (Girl duh, it's okay tho i'm clueless too) You took one bite. Your eyes widened. “Chan, this is” “Good?” he asked, giggling softly. “Actually illegal.” you said. He blushed. Actually blushed.
Hyunjin plate-serves you like a prince. You tried to reach for the vegetables and suddenly his hand shot out, spoon already there. “I’ll serve you.” he said, tone soft but firm. “Oh you don’t have to.” “I want to.” he murmured, placing perfect little portions onto your plate. Then he flashed you a smile so stunning you forgot what language was.
Changbin keeps offering “just one more scoop.” You’d barely eaten three bites before he appeared at your side like a buff fairy godmother. “Want more?” “No, I’m good-” He ignored you completely. “One more scoop.” he declared, adding it anyway “You’re small. You need fuel.” “I am not small.” “You’re small.” he insisted gently.
Lee Know cuts your food when you struggle with noodles. You were mid-battle with a piece of stubborn meat when he silently slid your plate closer to him. “I got it.” Lee Know said, already slicing through it with expert precision. “Minho, I can do it-” “No.” he said simply. He returned the plate to you. “Try now.” Your soul left your body.
Han keeps trying to make you laugh. He leaned over the table, narrating Hyunjin’s dramatic expressions like a nature documentary. “Observe: the majestic peacock, preening in hopes of impressing the newcomer.” Hyunjin smacked him with a napkin. You choked on air laughing. Han looked delighted. “YES! That’s the sound I wanted.”
Seungmin steals your drink like you’re already roommates. Halfway through the meal, you reached for your cup… Gone. You turned and there he was, sipping it completely straight-faced. “I just wanted to try it,” he said. No apology. No shame. Then he slid it back to you with one raised brow. “I like it better on you.” What does that even MEAN??
Jeongin sits beside you and imitates your expression every time you react. You took a bite he did the exact same face. You raised your brows so did he. You suppressed a laugh he mirrored it perfectly. At one point you caught him doing it and he froze mid-expression, cheeks going pink. “Sorry.” he murmured. “You’re fun to copy.” Your heart malfunctioned.
And Felix…Felix just watched you. With that radiant, glowing smile, proud and almost emotional. Like he brought you into his world and was witnessing all his favorite things discovering each other. At one point, he leaned close and whispered:
“I knew they’d love you.”
Your chest got warm.
And then the moment that killed you:
You were choking on the meat (Lee Know cut it but you still managed to eat like a fool) and all eight boys snapped toward you like alarmed meerkats.
Chan was already patting your back.
Hyunjin passing you water.
Felix rubbing soothing circles on your arm.
Han panicking loudly.
Changbin offering the Heimlich even though you were definitely NOT choking that badly.
In the chaos, realization hit you like a freight train:
They’re… flirting. (no shit)
All eight of them.
But gently. Like they didn’t want to overwhelm you. Like they were trying to make you feel safe.
Wanted.
Chosen.
When you left, everything changed. You waved goodbye , shy, awkward, blanket still wrapped around your shoulders because Hyunjin insisted you take it “for the cold air outside.” You stepped out the door. The latch clicked.
And instantly...the entire apartment went silent. Eight men stood frozen in place like they’d just witnessed an act of God. Felix was still staring at the door with his hands clasped in front of his chest, smiling like an idiot. For a full five seconds, no one moved. No one breathed.
Han:
“Bro I literally forgot how to breathe.” He collapsed backward onto the couch. “Felix… your friend is dangerously cute. I need oxygen.”
Changbin:
“Same.” He flexed unconsciously. “My body temperature went up like eight degrees. This can’t be healthy.” “Are you saying you’re feverish?” Seungmin asked. “I’m saying I’m SIMPING.”
Jeongin:
“She’s so cute I wanna scream.” “You did scream.” Changbin reminded him. “In my heart!” Jeongin yelled from the blankets.
Seungmin:
“You already screamed.” He sighed, rubbing his forehead. “This is bad. You’re all embarrassing.” But even he couldn’t hide the faint smile tugging at his lips.
Lee Know:
“She’s trouble.” Everyone looked at him. He huffed. “Beautiful trouble.” he corrected, softer. “The kind that makes you forget what you were doing.” Hyunjin gasped dramatically at him. “Minnie… are you BLUSHING?” “SHUT UP.”
Hyunjin:
“I can’t believe it… She wasn’t even trying and she destroyed us.” He kicked his feet like a lovesick teenager. “She smiled at me once and my IQ dropped to single digits.”
Chan:
He exhaled. Long, deep, resigned. “Felix… we like her.”
The room froze. Felix blinked at him. Chan continued, voice soft, almost hesitant: “All of us. I don’t think any of us were subtle. At all.” Seven heads nodded immediately. Even Seungmin. Even Lee Know.
Felix:
“I… figured.” “You WHAT?!” Han shrieked. Felix shrugged weakly, cheeks pink. “You were staring at her like she was the last slice of cheesecake.” The seven boyfriends collectively short-circuited. Chan rubbed his face with both hands. “Lix… you talked about her so much we were already curious. And now that we’ve met her..”
Han: “I’m obsessed.”
Hyunjin: “I’m enchanted.”
Changbin: “I’m in love.”
Seungmin: “I’m considering it.”
Lee Know: “I’d die for her. Maybe.”
Jeongin: “I want her to come back tomorrow.”
Felix was blushing so hard he looks like he’s overheating “…me too.” The room fell quiet again but this time it wasn’t shock. It was realization. Soft, dangerous, overwhelming realization:
They liked you.
All eight of them.
Already.
And the worst part?
They had absolutely zero idea what to do about it.
