1. How to outsiders know when they’ve crossed you clan’s border? Marks painted or carved into trees or rocks? Glowing runes marking the edge?
It’s not exactly hard to miss. The entirety of the Rosewood belongs to the clan (So they think) and as a result once you enter the forest you’ve entered the clan’s territory. It’s a fairly large forest, hard to miss what with the bone-white trees and blood-red leaves, and most who enter it find they can’t find the way out.
Technically, neither the Rosewood’s dragons nor the Bloodmoon Enclave have explicitly marked territories--it’s hard to put up territory markers as the forest is alive and changes daily. They have their respective camps--large clearings that are carved out of the wood daily, mostly because the Rosewood’s plant life tends to grow rapidly and encroach, threatening to consume the camps if they aren’t cut back. But it’s hard to really maintain territory beyond that, so rarely does anyone know they’ve stumbled upon a camp until they’re there.
4. A community, especially a large one, needs a steady and reliable source of food. Where does you clan get its food? If they’re hunter-gatherers, what do they do when they can’t find anything?
The Rosewood, like any forest, is full of life. There’s plenty of plants for dragons to consume, meaning there’s no real need for agriculture. Some dragons are concerned about the foliage at first, and there’s a very subtle, sickly sweet aftertaste to the greenery (reddery?) but if it’s get used to it or starve, dragons get used to it.
There’s also a river that runs through the heart of the Rosewood, and both Anaimia’s dragons and Nyx’s make their camp relatively close to it. It’s not unusual in fact for the Rosewood and the Bloodmoon dragons to see and interact at the river, leading often to minor spats. From there, dragons can fish and obtain water if need be.
There’s also the Beasts that roam the Rosewood. There’s some animal life that lives in the Rosewood which is often hunted and brought back, but the biggest source of meat comes from the Beasts that walk the wood. Huge, mutated creatures that tend to be vicious to face, taking one down can feed the clan for several days. Often Kallistrate and Sariel, or Mellori and her Pack, will go out hunting for the Beasts and return with them.
Like most things, the meat also has the strange sickly taste albeit much stronger. Magic sensitive dragons in fact notice how magically saturated the Beasts they devour tend to be, which can be...unsettling.
15. What about family? Are they nuclear (husband, wife, children) or extended (several generations in one home)? Something else?
The Rosewood is largely a group of isolated families or mates that co-exist because they have no other choice. There’s not particularly any sense of strong unity, especially under Anaimia’s leadership, but they work together because they fear the Rosewood more than they dislike each other.
Certain dragons may form strong friendships or partnerships, and as a result there’s some degree of unity from there. While most dragon wouldn’t lift a finger to help Anaimia or her inner circle, those lower on the ranks do have a fierce loyalty to each other. Many also are loyal to the Houndmaster as she is a powerful force and they often pray she will one day usurp Anaimia.
The Bloodmoon Enclave is significantly more unified and ordered than the Rosewood. All the dragons follow and obey Nyx easily enough, and they work cooperatively and without strife. Many who join the Bloodmoon do so because of distaste towards Anaimia’s leadership and how the clan is run, so they eagerly ally with the Bloodmoon’s more amicable, familial-esque style of living.
