Thanks nonnie, you’re such a sweetie. This is a great prompt! I always love entertaining this scenario, hope you like it.
Haven’t Met You Yet
Caroline Forbes didn’t do debaucherous, bachelorette party weekends but given she was maid of honour she had no real choice but to indulge her friend. Lexi had surprised her choosing New Orleans and not Vegas for her last hurrah before the big day.
When Lexi had fallen in love with her human best friend, Caroline had been happy but shocked. It was difficult for him to accept her and Katherine as vampires and Bonnie a witch all those years ago, let alone marry someone supernatural but it was true love after all.
Caroline, being the perfect planner, had organised everything down to the karaoke bar choice, canapés for the cocktail function and the menu at Restaurant R’evolution and specific cutlery and napkin choices. Everything had to be just right.
“This is amazing, Care,” Lexi smiled, taking in the party atmosphere on the rooftop of the Omni Hotel where they were staying. As per request, the waiters were shirtless bar black bowties and the champagne was flowing.
“If you say so,” she muttered, thinking this wouldn’t be her first choice, but Caroline always had been picky. Not that she’d be married anytime soon given her lack of male admirers. She could have compelled them of course but that wasn’t the way she wanted to find the love of her life.
“Excuse me? Who’s in charge of this function?” She turned to see a rather uptight, but gorgeous, guy in a suit speaking to the bar staff animatedly.
“That would be me,” she growled, approaching him and trying to ignore just how handsome he looked from this close proximity. “What seems to be the problem?”
“And you are?” She couldn’t miss the way he licked those crimson lips as he asked. She’d researched the establishment beforehand knowing he was Klaus Mikaelson, the Original Hybrid who owned most of New Orleans.
It was difficult to avoid him given just how much he controlled. She couldn’t explain it but every detail during her planning had ultimately led her back to him. Yes, he was gorgeous, but there was a strong emotional pull she could feel when it came to him even though they’d never met.
“Caroline Forbes,” she shot back. “And you are?”
He faltered briefly, his stunned expression not lost on Caroline. She figured the King of New Orleans deserved to come down a few pegs. “Klaus Mikaelson.”
“Never heard of you,” she shot back whilst trying to ignore just how good he smelled. “What do you want?”
“This event wasn’t cleared by management,” he growled, his eyes searching her face curiously.
“And what exactly is the problem with this event?” She asked, trying to decide if she wanted to hit him or kiss him.
“Well, half naked waiters for starters..”
“This is a bachelorette party,” she hissed, wondering why he cared. “Half naked and eventually fully naked people are generally the norm.”
“Is that your preference, love?” He was gazing into her eyes and even though she was a vampire, Caroline was finding it difficult to breathe given the unexpected tightness in her chest.
“I’m not the one getting married and don’t call me that.”
“And for that I’m eternally grateful,” he responded, his eyes resting on hers longer than usual and ignoring her accusation in the process.
“I’m confused,” she murmured. “So, what’s the problem exactly?”
“Nothing as long as I can watch over your activities this evening.”
“Stalker much?”
“I happen to run all tonight’s establishments, your choice not mine sweetheart, so it would be irresponsible not to check-in throughout the night.”
“Check-in on what exactly?” She bristled. Gorgeous or not, this overbearing guy was wearing on her last nerve.
“Whether you’re going to be one of those naked people because if that’s the case I’m not sure whether I could deal with it.”
“I don’t need a babysitter,” she drawled. “And that creepy, stalker vibe is completely off putting.”
“Creepy maybe but blame the whole soulmate thing.”
“Soulmate thing?”
“Seems like we’re stuck with each other, love,”
“Charming. Is that the way you justify your caveman tendencies, Mikaelson?”
“You’ll see,” he offered, disappearing before she could argue back. There was no way she’d be soulmates with such a condescending ass. Either way, it looked like she was stuck with him for the evening, at least then she could hopefully remove him from her system.
Famous last words…
