🌸🌷Happy 80th Birthday to Klaus Voormann, born OTD; April 29, 1938🌷🌸 Wishing the happiest of birthdays to Klaus Voormann, one of my favourite artists and musicians whose many wonderful works include the iconic cover art of The Beatles’ 1966 Revolver album; my favourite album cover💕 As a member of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s Plastic Ono Band, Klaus played bass on the Live Peace in Toronto 1969 album, as well as John Lennon’s albums ‘John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band’ (1970) and ‘Imagine’ (1971). Klaus also maintained a close friendship with George Harrison, and was a member of George’s band at Concert for Bangladesh in 1971. Following George’s passing, Klaus played bass on the song ‘All Things Must Pass’ as a tribute to his friend at Concert for George in 2002🎶💐 “I know how much it annoyed George to be addressed as a Beatle years later. He was an independent person who once played in a band called The Beatles. George gave me a lot of humanity and I’m still profiting from that today. Astridd Kirchherr (1938-2020) took her favourite picture in April 1962, days after her fiance, Stuart Sutcliffe, died in her arms on the way to a Hamburg hospital. You may have seen it: Sutcliffe's best friend, John Lennon, sits in sombre half-light with a boyish George Harrison behind him. "When you see John's little face, it's so sad," Kirchherr says, a catch in her throat even now. "He looks so lost sitting there, and there's this 18-year-old boy standing behind him looking so strong.
