Frido Martin was born in Lima in August 1963. He studied Linguistics in San Marcos University. In the eighties, he collaborated with two important Peruvian collectives: Kloaka, a group of poets that took the poetry tradition to a turning point in Peru; and Grupo Chaclacayo, a collective of visual artists that disrupted the Peruvian Arts scene in that decade. Frido’s first performances date back from the time he cooperated with both collectives. In 2003, he published his first book of poems, ‘Naufragios’ and a few years later gradually approached to phonetic poetry, performance poetry and Sound Art, which are his main lines of art work now.
