Hello! Apologies for the super late reply as I only just saw this. :\ You’ve probably already found out who Tabata is, but I thought I’d answer anyway in case you haven’t. Tabata Yuu is a 2nd year point guard from Nakamiya South - here’s his profile from Kuro Fes:

I probably should have asked this waaay before, but here goes. I know the circumstances regarding Akashi and his two selves, but I always get confused on which one is "Bokushi" and which one is "Oreshi". By my speculations on what limited information I know about Japanese language xD "Oreshi" is the red eye/yellow eye Akashi? Or is that wrong-

Hi there! It’s totally never too late to ask. :)

Oreshi is actually the Akashi with both eyes red, while Bokushi is the one with red and yellow eyes. This came about because Oreshi addresses himself with the pronoun, ore, while Bokushi uses boku. Unfortunately, that gets lost in translation, since it becomes just I in English, so it understandably confuses many!

If it helps, you can think of Oreshi as Original Akashi - that might make it easier to remember? :D

* Food for thought: His motto is actually originally a Chinese idiom, lit. “sleep on firewood and taste gall.” It’s in reference to the story of Fuchai, who slept on firewood and had a gall bladder hung in his room, which he would taste every morning, to remind him of the bitterness of his defeat and to keep his vow of vengeance strong.

So sometimes this motto is said to mean that one should keep the reminder of their defeat fresh so that they won’t lose sight of their goal (of vengeance is implied but the meaning is used more broadly these days for just ambition). Interesting stuff considering the backstory that Fujimaki’s comment implied.

* Called "reaction gei" - this is a bit hard to describe if you've never seen one of these shows before so bear with me a bit as I try to explain. In its most basic sense, it's a type of show (mainly comedy) where the basis of entertainment is in a person's reactions to something (whether food they're eating, something being done to them, putting them in weird outrageous situations to see how they react and so on). Most of the time, the reactions are also enacted in a silly and exaggerated way to amplify the effect.

These "reaction acts" can be as tame as someone eating something really hot and making wild gestures when the food touches their mouth. Or it can be crazy stuff like men sticking an object up their butts and then going out to do some kind of stunt that would be wince-inducing to imagine - for example, riding a bicycle on a very rocky path while said object is lodged in their butts. T_T In Kawahara's case, he does reaction gei involving oden (his favorite food), which is usually the more tame kind (though I've also seen some pretty creative oden reaction gei so… yeah).

** Sort of like being teased or like when someone is messing with you. Playful sibling bullying if you will? (I'm actually a bit unsure about this because my Japanese grammar is not so great, and I kept wondering if it simply said he does fun stuff with his sister. I think I got it right though, but I really hope someone out there with a better command of Japanese can tell me if it turns out I was understanding it wrong after all.)
