Hey so how much extra yarn do y'all buy when buying yarn for a pattern. Is it just an extra ball or a certain length or are you insane and buy less/exactly the amount it calls for?

Hello. I have a newbie knitter question to ask.
I was hoping if you know how many yarns a person might need to knit an oversized sweater?
The yarn is called a Fine Yarn (I think it means a thin yarn?)
The pattern I downloaded from Raverly didn't specify how much I might need.
Thank you 🫶🏻
I am not a sweater knitter... Throwing it out to my friends on here. How much you'll need really depends on your size, your desired sweater size, your gauge.... Maybe check the other projects on Rav and see if any of them look like your size and how much yarn they used?
I'm making a blanket that calls for alternating color squares of 5mm and 9mm yarn. It's a checkerboard pattern worked as one piece, not separate squares sewn together. The pattern has no notes for how to ensure the same thickness across squares. How do I, essentially, "make" 5mm into 9mm?
Ok so I went back to the DPNs and idk I feel like I’m doing it wrong I hope I’m not but idk does this look correct 👀
I am in search for a pattern that I stupidly did not save... anywhere. Cannot remember the name of it or the designer, so im hoping someone will be able to take my description and help me out. Im combing through ravelry but it's... a process.
It is a knit pattern and im pretty sure it released last year. It was a triangle shape, kind of longer and narrow. It had a pattern where it looked like a bouquet of flowers alternating with stripes in waves. I think it also had a lace section.
If anyone has any leads I'd owe you my life orz
hey tumblr knitting community i need some help. i’ve been knitting this sweater for months and finally finished the body but when i picked up the stitches at the underarm i got a hole there. does anyone know how to prevent it and/or fix it??? i’m only a few rows in so i should be able to go back to my starting point pretty easily but i’d kinda rather not.
So I am posting this on behalf on another Etsy shop owner. Anyone have a clue?
“A few years ago I saw a beautiful knitting pattern book but I cannot remember what it was called. The photography was amazing, the image I remember most is a woman in a knitted dress laying down in the woods. All the patterns were ethereal, fairy style but adult sized not kids. Bizarre I know but if anyone knows what it was called I’d be very grateful to find out! M x “
I’m stumped I was thinking maybe Tiny Owls knit book but I don’t remember a dress.
Hey I’m knitting a hat with textured stripes(a few rounds knitted a few purled) on my cable needles and I noticed it’s uneven in places. Did I do something wrong? Can I fix it? If someone can help please do! I can provide pictures as well
