Your life sounds so similar to mine it's eerie. Up until two years ago I was working at a literary agency, doing some first reading and the occasional editing job, then my health went completely off the rails. I'd previously been diagnosed with fibromyalgia (which now they say it's not, so...?) but had unexplained joint pain all my life, then started having digestive issues; certain foods would make me sick, intestinal and stomach inflammation, blockages, etc., and exhaustion. It's very strange.
Uuuuuuugh I am so sorry friend *hugs* it totally, absolutely sucks. (On the plus side you get to join the body twin mishap club both @deadcatwithaflamethrower and I run because out conditions almost mirror each other exactly) Did any of your problems start with a respiratory infection?
I got chronic bronchitis twice (diagnosed the day before my wedding day) in one month in 2013 and that seems to have been the final straw for my body, I just never was able to shake the feeling of having flu since then. There’s some days when it’s worse than others, but the majority of the time my whole body just feels like I’ve had flu and I’m still recovering.
