Heck yes it stands up! I didn’t know if it would; I didn’t think the stockinette was dense enough to make up for the airy lace. (You work the heavy yarn and the light yarn on the same needles. Needle. It’s a circular needle.)
Scaffolding Cowl.
(My favorite part of this is that sometimes, when you have a lace collar and it has stiffness/stands up, it makes the whole thing look very creature-like. I am not sure Mrs Hammersley would enjoy my ah-great-you-look-like-a-creature take on her dress if it were possible for me to convey it, but to me, it’s sort of fascinating. Dragonflies’ wings. Godzilla. Perfectly normal reaction to a dress. Anyway, bemused by the lace realizations, happy the structural part of the knitted thing worked.)
Socks complete! Ran out of yarn right before the second toe, but you know what? These socks were borg socks anyway. The yarn was called “resistance is futile”. Of course they assimilated a bit of another yarn in the process :)
Hello Hello!!! It's w.i.p. weekend!!! With PICTURES!! for the first time in like, 3 weeks?? oof. (@thoseeyeslikefire @absentviolet)
I'm going in order of least exciting news to most exciting news!
First off, I got the Pass The Honey cardigan back on the needles, and I did a couple rows. Not a lot of work has been done on it since the last time I took a pic, but I'm gonna start working on it again! I want to get it done by December, cause I think it'll be a nice wear in January and February around here. Also my sister is still going back and forth on if she actually wants to be able to wear it, oof. So I have no idea if this will end up in my wardrobe or hers, lol.
I started a new pair of socks yesterday! I've been putting it off for a couple weeks, and I am so excited to have a small thing of knitting to take with me places. I have three or four rows done on them, and I'm just. In love with the colors already. I hope to have these done for the fall, or at least by the end of October.
and lastly. A Finished Object. My Sunflower Shawl!!!! I know I made some mistakes with this pattern, but I actually. Really like how it turned out. As I am writing this up, I got all (or most of) the ends woven in, but when I took the pics I hadn't yet, so if you see a stray end, that's why. I am. So happy with it? its so soft and cozy and squishy. I don't think I'm gonna block it (at the moment), but I like how it looks without it?? The texture work is more subtle, which I like. (I also just don't have a way to block things at the moment. Maybe I'll change my mind but we'll see)
Okay, well, I GUESS it's pretty! But this (knitting!) is still a RIDICULOUS way to make a FLAT thing in the round! So I probably won't make the rest of the blanket this was a test hexagon for.
Probably.
...
right?
Also, I guess it was a good thing that I haven't yet thrown out the styrofoam blocks my new toilet came in? XD I would not have expected it to be such a GOOD blocking surface!
I wasn't going to do handmade gifts this year but...
Socks. I wanna knit my whole family Christmas socks.
Snowflakes for the girls, stripes for the guys.
If I go and buy yarn tomorrow and start knitting this weekend, I should get'em all done by Christmas. It's only... 4 women's pairs, 2 men's pairs, two small children's, and one toddler's.
At the end of April, I finally finished the second glove, for my pair of fingerless gloves!
At least I'll be ready for NEXT fall and winter! ^_^
These were knit on size 2 needles, out of soft, swirly-colored yarn I spun! I saw this pattern and it was so obviously perfect for the yarn! So, even though I had no idea how to DO many of the directions, I jumped in headfirst anyway!
That's the best way to learn knitting... right? :D
