Apollo as an Academic Deity
Apollo is most commonly associated with the arts, music, and the sun, but historically he has also been associated with the academic world.

The Pythagoreans associated Apollon with mathematics and believed math and music were connected. In ancient Athens and Sparta, music—another one of Apollon’s domains—played a large part in the educational curriculum of the time. His associations with truth and knowledge inspired philosophers like Socrates and Pythagreous, who were widely regarded as brilliant men in their time. In modern times, Apollon has lent his name to scientific endeavors, like the Apollo missions. As the leader of the muses, he is known for his skill in writing, poetry, and other art forms. For some contemporary Hellenic Polytheists, Apollon appears as a guiding light and mentor who, while strict at times, is a caring and empathetic source of knowledge. If you are a curious student, connecting with Apollon can be a great boon.

My Personal Experience:
Strangely, I have not seen a lot of people worship the academic side of Apollo, so I am hoping this post spreads some awareness. For me, while I normally call on Athena when doing academic work, Apollo is a child-like spark of curiosity that makes me want to explore, inquire, and learn. I called on him most when I was taking my creative writing class, for obvious reasons. In the future though, I will have to take more science and math courses to complete my degree so I intend to explore those aspects of him then. When working with the more knowledge-based side of Apollo, I feel he is more connected to informal learning for me. When I'm out in nature and I learn something new, I feel him then. When I go down a Wiki rabbit hole about clowns and jesters at 3 am, he is there. I also associate the name Apollon with his academic side as opposed to the name Apollo. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else does the same!
Overall, while Apollo is most commonly associated with the arts and the sun nowadays, I think we ought to pay homage to his academic side as well.
