Sometimes, a spontaneous act of heroism can change everything. This is one of those times. But that doesn’t mean acceptance will come easy.
Or: what if Master Kohga didn't fall down that hole?
‘Yeah, he stared when the mask fell. How could he not? That fluffy, curly dark hair... That ethereally soft tanned brown skin... The hint of stubble Link felt when their lips met...
And then there were his eyes. How to describe them? Well... Kohga’s eyes made the radiant light of Sheikah tech look dull. Dye ground from the finest sapphires couldn’t hope to compare to the colour Link saw. Link wanted to stare at them until it hurt. He wanted to burn the exact shade into his mind forever. Framed in smoky shadow, they were so bright and brilliant and beautiful and blue they gave the sky above them a run for its money. And when they caught the light from the dying fire, they almost seemed to glow.’
Chapter 5 of Sapphire Moonlight is now up.
‘The hero said nothing, but his gaze turned skyward, and he put his hands together as though praying. In fact, it almost looked like he was mouthing ‘thank you’ at the heavens.
Kohga grabbed his wrist. “That’s NOT a good thing, dummy! I— I can’t like you! We’re sworn enemies!”
Link stared at him, expression unreadable past mild surprise. He slid his hand out of his grasp, which was much weaker than it looked. “Do we have to be?”’
Chapter 4 of Sapphire Moonlight is now up!
‘The brat was right in front of him, and he’d... just... STOOD THERE! Like an IDIOT!
THE GREAT MASTER KOHGA WAS NOT AN IDIOT!
...So if word ever got out that it not only was his fault, but that he’d kept interacting— however involuntarily— with the hero afterwards? Goodbye, leadership. Bye, adoring followers. Sayonara, life.
But as two days crept by and the hero’s weird, stupid curse refused to fade, Kohga found himself with increasingly little choice in the matter.’
