instead of saying “not my circus, not my monkeys”, koki says “not my cave, not my bats”. sadly, oftentimes, it is in fact his cave and, indeed, his bats 😔
was blessed with new koki art from @remyuzaki. thank you for drawing my baby so beautifully <3
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HIZASHI YAMADA!! now i gotta repost the two bits of art @remyuzaki made for koki and mic!!
sorry i’ve not been posting, wifi is still out after the storm :(
koki and hizashi valentine’s art by @remyuzaki !!
IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN KOKI'S LIFE: mentor.
( pic one: when koki first met him || pic two: during mha )
HOUGEN KAWAMURA [ 川村鵬玄 ] ✧ forty three [ fifty four ] ✧ sagittarius ✧ "crow".
hougen kawamura, also known as former pro-hero crow, was koki's mentor. his quirk, “crow”, gives him all the abilities of a crow, plus the ability to morph into one. they met when koki was fourteen years old and was taken into custody after a raid of an illegal fighting ring. seeing potential in the kid, he managed to pull a few strings and got koki's charges dropped, so long as koki trained under him. with hougen's help, koki managed to hone the skills he'd learnt in the ring and apply them in a more 'heroic' manner.
koki and hougen are still incredibly close, he did his work studies and his internships at hougen's agency. koki practically owes hougen his life. that being said, koki did give him a hard time growing up, and still does every now and again. with hougen, he’s a completely different person. he is, after all, the closest thing he has to a healthy father figure, and the closest he ever felt to being comfortable enough to be a little shit difficult.
SOME MORE INFORMATION
he has a big scar that covers the entirety of the left side of his face.
they have a similar relationship to sarah & eric in the crow and/or ash lynx & max lobo in banana fish.
he briefly comes out of retirement to fight against the LOV, but goes back into retirement afterwards.
very protective, takes a while to warm up to hizashi. still not entirely onboard with the relationship.
koki's bat form!! he's a big six-foot-six bat monster, a kind of frankensteined version of various different bat species!
( shout out to @remyuzaki once again for this 😊 sorry i keep giving you challenges to draw things you've never drawn before. 🥺 )
KOKI’S CHILDHOOD ( aka the fighting ring ramble ) !!
koki was ten years old when his father saw enough potential in his quirk to, well, stop ignoring him. however, he also decided koki needed "extra help to toughen him up", since his father thought he was too sensitive, so he started taking him to illegal fighting rings.
initially, it was just to watch but soon he pushed koki into getting involved in the ring ( partially so rin could make more money ). koki was terrified at first, but when you’re thrown into fighting, you quickly learn to adapt.
his quirk was great for defence, but not so good when it came to offence. he was quick and nimble, but not very strong. so, fights would take a long time. that being said, he used his wits and speed against them to win.
after the fights, koki would be told to "walk it off" and would, instead, sneak to hizashi’s house to get his wounds treated usually, it was minor wounds - a bag of peas for any bruises, anti-septic for any cuts and grazes, etc.
koki's injuries from fighting kind of made him unapproachable in middle school. it didn't help that he sat at the back of class, didn't speak unless the teacher spoke to him, and then went home without interacting with anyone else in class.
hizashi accidentally let slip about koki’s situation after koki started coming over with worse injuries than he could handle. slash wounds, etc. it was a few months after oboro’s death, and hizashi thought he was going to lose another friend.
he’d kept it a secret before because he didn’t want to get koki in trouble, as had the rest of the group. but hizashi, in the heat of the moment, didn’t care about it and told the counsellor everything.
a few weeks later, pro-heroes and police raided one of the rings and took koki into custody. he was let go, due to pro-hero crow agreeing to give him a second chance. his father managed to evade arrest and charges too, by pretending he had no idea what his son was doing.
koki has always known it was hizashi, it was awkward for a while while koki adjusted, but he grew to be grateful for it. he never let on that he knew, though, since he wanted to wait for hizashi to admit it on his own.
