His Sleeping Beauty
Summary: Fairytales are derived from reality. The story of a girl hidden in the woods and put into an everlasting slumber by a witch is true, but the details have been twisted form how Kol had shared them.
Kol had been out in the forest after a physical fight with his brother, Klaus. Apparently, Kol had been too obvious with his vampirism, killing too many people in public and coming home a mess too often.
It was rich coming from Klaus.
So, Kol had stormed off.
He walked for hours, kicking the occasional stone or stick to overcome his boredom. His steps slowed as he caught sight of a cottage. It was completely isolated from the rest of society. On instinct, Kol prepared to attack and devour whoever was in there, but upon hearing a soft hum, his interest had shifted from hunger to curiosity.
He rounded the building, coming to a stop when he saw a girl knelt against the grass, surrounded by flowers. She held a peaceful innocence that Kol hadn’t experienced since a child.
When his weight caused the leaves to crunch, his head lifted and turned in his direction. She appeared scared and alarmed as she quickly got up.
“What do you want?” She questioned and Kol blinked at her.
“Nothing. I was just walking through the woods.” He told her, for once Kol didn’t feel like eating. He was thankful that his clothes weren’t soaked in blood this time. That would surely frighten her even more than just his presence.
“You should go.” Her voice was serious, like something awful might happen if he didn’t.
“Why?” His brows narrowed and she glanced back to her house. Inside was another woman, facing away from the window.
“You shouldn’t wonder the woods.” She told him, getting up and heading inside.
Kol lingered amongst the trees, curious by her strange behaviour.
He learned quickly that her mother was controlling. She didn’t want them going out into the world. That creatures would get them and bleed them dry of their blood.
They were witches, he quickly came to understand, not that Y/N really knew that about herself. But her mother was aware and intended to keep them isolated in the forest.
Y/N wasn’t allowed further than a mile from the cottage in any direction.
Kol had once watched in fascination when her palm pressed against an invisible wall, keeping her inside the bubble.
Witches were able to keep people in much easier than keeping people out. So Kol was still able inside the area, he had come to wait just by the border, far enough away that her mother could not see him.
“Tell me, darling, if it’s only you here, how are you entertained?” He asked once she had become more accustomed to his presence.
“Well I speak with the animals.” She told him as though it were obvious. Kol could only smile at her and him.
“The animals?”
“The deer and the birds?” She gestured around and he watched as a doe peeking from behind a tree before scattering off at his gaze.
Y/N appeared to have a very serene life as she waded through the grass and the plants, showing Kol how to hold out his hand so that the birds would land in his palm.
But behind closed doors, he knew her mother was cruel. An evil witch one might call her. Kol and considered her entire existence to be a curse over Y/N’s life.
Y/N would sneak small things out to Kol, like a slice of the strawberry pie that she had baked herself from the fruits she had grown herself.
Kol had been so brave as to slip a gold locket around her neck. “To remind you of me.” He told her and she smiled but had to take it off, holding it tight in her hand instead.
“I love it, but if my mother sees it…” her voice trailed and Kol understood.
He had considered killing her mother of course, but as much as it hindered Y/N, she didn’t understand what she was missing and so loved her mother dearly. Kol knew that if he killed her, Y/N would hate him. At the time, Y/N seemed to be the only person on earth that did not hate Kol and so he cherished the relationship.
He pulled away from his family once again and used his time to be with Y/N; to feel something other than hurt and anger.
Kol had bought her seeds for pink roses, learning that it was her favourite colour and her favourite flower and so paired them together.
They sat together, surrounded by the flowers whilst he brought her things to see. Books and musical instruments, playing and teaching her them as far away from the house as they could be. He would read to her and help her understand the letters himself.
It had been Y/N’s idea to sneak him into the house one night, shushing him quietly when he climbed through her window in the depths of the night.
Kol smiled at the modesty of her nightwear as he laid with her in the bed. Y/N was sweet, sheltered and oblivious as he nuzzled her skin. She giggled when he hoped she might moan, the action ticking her just as much as it pleased her.
“You have to be quiet!” She whispered to him when Kol had playfully dropped her onto her back, his body over hers.
“I am being quiet, darling.” He assured, his hands hiding the hem of her night dress up past her knees. Y/N simply looked back at him, unaware of his intentions when he tried to look for permission.
A small sound had lift her when his fingers brushed her clothed core, feeling her heat through the cotton.
Kol had easily corrupted her. Having her seeking the contact between her legs.
He sat with her between his legs in the forest, her back to his chest whilst his hand played between her thighs, fingers stroking and teasing whilst she tried to read the book he’d brought her.
“Good, what’s the next word?” He asked, curling his fingers inside her as she moaned the word out.
Kol knew it was too risky to deflower her in her room, too much chance that her mother would hear, wake, catch them and attempt to kill him.
So he laid her amongst the roses and held her hips gently before pushing his hips up, flush against hers. Y/N panted, her skin bare beneath his and arched to touch him.
“Shh” he reminded when her mouth opened to let out a loud cry of relief when he thrust into her. His own jaw hung open, Kol had engaged in countless encounters of sex yet none quite seemed to compare to that. Something about actually caring for her, loving her, made it feel so much more intense.
His fangs had ached when she clung to him, pulling his face into her neck for comfort and affection. He tried desperately to just kiss her, no biting but he pulsing help but sunk his fangs down.
Surprise filled him when she moaned and held him closer, clenching around him tightly and urging him to keep going.
“Don’t let your mother see.” He reminded when they got to the cottage, where he had to part from her.
Unfortunately, her mother had seen far more than the bite. She’d caught sight of them in the woods, seen her daughter being corrupted by a vampire.
So whilst Kol was on his way home, feeling warm and happy for once his his lifetimes, Y/N’s mother was punishing Y/N.
He’d come back to the woods, hoping she’d be waiting at the tree lines. Y/N’s body laid in the same spot where he’d made love to her the night before. The two little makes still on the side of her neck from where he’d bitten. But she was so still and quiet, not even her heart making a sound. Kol begged with everything in him that she was just sleeping. That her eyes were just closed and when he leant down to hold her hand she would wake but she didn’t.
Kol stared, his breathing growing rapid as he quickly sunk down to his knees and tried to do something, anything. CPR was useless and he tried to shove his bloody wrist into her mouth but it was too late.
When the leaves crunched, his head shot up. His brows furrowed at the sight of her mother.
“What did you do?” He whispered, utter disbelief on his face but she didn’t look guilty at all.
“I warned her about what would happen if she meddled with vampire business.” She scoffed, “you poisoned her life, she was dead already.”
But she wasn’t. Y/N had finally felt like she was living with Kol and her mother had stripped that away.
“You killed her.” He told her, his eyes full of tears as he laid Y/N’s body back amongst the pink roses. He caressed her face and touched her hair with adoration and hurt. Kol leant down to press his forehead to hers, choking a sob down at how cold her skin had become, before pressing one last kiss to hers lips.
Kol made sure her mother suffered in a thousand different ways before she died.
Y/N was laid to rest, buried in the forest where the animals she loved dearly could visit with those same roses replanted over her grave. Kol visited for a while before it became too painful to keep reminding himself.
When he told people about her, he always referred to her mother as an evil witch, people seemed to take that detail even further.
He’d burned piles of the written fairytale Sleeping Beauty. His emotions had gone through the roof when he found out Aurora was based off his darling Y/N. That in this tale, she was brought back to life from his kiss.
Kol envied the happy ending that people fabricated
