Kolo Toure has taken up a coaching role at Celtic. The 36-year-old has been handed the title of technical assistant, with the club stating he would be “supporting on all first-team coaching matters, as well as using his knowledge, experience and expertise to assist across the club’s various youth levels”. The former Arsenal and Liverpool defender made 17 appearances for Celtic after being reunited with former Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers last summer, and had been hoping to extend his playing career. But he took up a coaching role with the Ivory Coast national set-up in the summer and has been doing some work with Rodgers and his backroom staff in recent weeks. Quoted on the club’s official website, Toure said: “I couldn’t be happier to be back at this great club. “This is a new chapter in my career, a new beginning. The football is over now. I can officially say I am retired from playing and now I am fully concentrating on coaching. “For me there is no big change in terms of what I will be doing. I have always been the kind of player who tries to help those around me. . . . #kolotoure #toure #celtic #celticfc #celticfootballclub #spl #scottishpremiership #scottishpremierleague

Much like after the #LeagueCup final against City, it was very tough to revisit our #EuropaLeague final defeat because I just wanted to completely forget about the terrible defeat #theReds suffered at #Basel, but I guess what we need to do is put it behind us and look forward to the future. In hindsight, we didn't deserve to win, the second half capitulation after making such a great start was unfortunate, but anyone following #Liverpool in recent years can tell you its not something out of the extraordinary, #CrystalPalace away three seasons ago springs to mind, as does #Southampton away more recently when we surrendered a 2-0 lead. Its a shame THAT version of Liverpool showed up in the final. I think if we play #Sevilla again today we will win comfortably because we always seem to bounce back. One word to describe this season would be Inconsistent. we have seen it all from the Reds this year from being complete and utter crap to being sublime and everything in between, we have won and lost matches against all odds and made it to two finals. It is a great shame that we don't have any silverware to show for the efforts, but you know what? There will be other finals down the road, we are #Liverpool and it is in our DNA even when the team is poor. And #Klopp is already working on making us better, with signing players and new staff from top teams as well as putting in the hours on the training ground. there's plenty to look forward to next year, it is not the same without #EuropeanCompetition, but think about what we -almost- achieved back in 2013-2014. We can dream. #LiverpoolFc #WeAreLiverpool #LFC #LoveLFC #LFCFamily #tt4LFC #YNWA #weGoAgain #lovren #dejanLovren #toure #kolo #koloToure
