@weloverobinhood I’m going to keep this short, because I, too, am not looking to fight with people online.
First of all, you’re apologizing for the fact that I felt offended, not for your own words. So you’re apologizing for my behavior, not yours.
Second, I was not as much offended for myself but for the fact that the person whose comment was above yours is 16. I sincerely hope that minors in this fandom don’t end up thinking that all adults view them in such a condescending way.
Third, stating your “honest truths” does not mean you’re not responsible for your own words/actions. The point of my post was “hey, real people are affected by the sexist and rude way people talk about this fictional character”, so if someone’s “honest truth” (in this case, belittling everyone under 30, especially minors) possibly hurts someone in real life, I’m not going to let it slide in the replies of my own post. I remember what it was like being a minor in fandoms largely populated by adults, and it wasn’t always fun. Comments that were thinly veiled in politeness that belitteled younger fans were not uncommon to see, and unfortunately, they’re still common to this day. In the worst case, they can make someone feel unwelcome in a fandom.
