A Gintama episode a day keeps the ending away...Episode 76
Episode Title: In Those Situations, Keep Quiet And Cook Red Rice With Beans, or aka, The Yagyuu Arc Begins!
MY 15 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 76 (manga chaps 110 and 111):
I love the Yagyuu arc, one of my faves in the entire series. I hope the next live action movie covers this arc...and they find a way to incorporate Zura and Elizabeth into it since live action Zura is so perfect.
1) Baby Tae-chan and Baby Kyuu-chan melts me.
2) I just love this so damn much.
3) There were these random cutaways in the Snack Smile scene which were unique to the anime, and this one was my favorite for obvious reasons. It was a parody of something I don’t know anything about, but LOOK AT YAMAZAKI’S SHORTS!!!!
4) It was a very sweet gesture on the part of the Shinsengumi’s boys...
5) ...too bad Tae-chan is who she is so of course she didn’t react well. I loved Yamazaki’s kimono, which looks even cuter in color.
6) Kyuubei making a really cool entrance.
7) I honestly didn’t like anything about this, but after seeing Princess Bubbles’ size, I was relieved that their genders weren’t switched. Yikes.
8) I love Kondou but I really wish he had better control of his bowels.
9) Whether or not Kyuu-chan had really been a man, I’m sure I still would’ve been shock at this development.
10) I honestly never like seeing Gin-chan hitting animals, even if the animal in question outsized him by ten times. He’s lucky Princess Bubbles didn’t fight back...she couldn’t smashed him into a bloody human pancake with just one finger.
11) Yeah, I was starting to really feel bad for Princess Bubbles. She didn’t deserve any of this abuse. I mean, not bad enough that I wanted her marriage with Kondou to go through, but she was legit royalty after all, she deserved some respect.
12) Gin-chan and Kagura were lying on top of Kondou’s poop stained pants. I was so grossed out.
13) The face that launched a no-holds barred dojo challenge.
14) I loved that they were talking about Gintoki, and reminding us he was the first to ever beat Hijikata.
15) These future bro-in-laws. So proud of them banding together to fight for Tae-chan’s return.
SHIPS TALLY:
Gintoki x Hijikata & Okita x Kagura: two of my main OTPs in one frame? LOVE. Although admittedly, I probably didn’t devoutly ship OkiKagu until this arc. My love was sparked previously, but it didn’t fully catch fire and erupt into a glorious eternal flame til this arc happened.
Kondou x Otae: pretty much always a given when they’re in any episode together.
Kyuubei x Otae: this ship is what tests my loyalty to KonTae and weakens my resolve a little.
Gintoki x Otae: her tears obviously moved him into action.
Hijikata x Otae: they would’ve been canon in this alternate series that Tae-chan conjured up, but even within the Ginta-verse, I’m sure a lot of people at the club thought Hijikata was interested since he specifically asked for her services.
Shinpachi x Otae: Pachi-kun’s siscon level was turned up to max.
Kondou x Princess Bubbles: I really can’t. Plus, honestly, Princess Bubbles deserves a man her size who doesn’t shit in his pants all the time. Yeah, that’s the argument I’m gonna stick with.
Hijikata x Okita: their banter and threats are always cute.
Kondou x Hijikata x Otae: I would never want this myself, but for those who do, this is for you.
Disclaimer: Gintama is not only about shipping. Gintama is hilarious, clever, exciting, poignant, heart-breaking, loving, brilliant, and just completely unbelievably amazing. It is only due to Sorachi-sama’s immense generosity that I am able enjoy Gintama on an extra another level, the shippy level, and I am forever grateful for that. GINTAMA IS LIFE AND LOVE.
A Gintama episode a day keeps the ending away...Episode 83
Episode Title: Rank Has Nothing To Do With Luck
MY 20 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN EPISODE 83 (manga chaps 127 and 128):
I LOVE THIS EPISODE!!!! I wish it was longer than one episode.
1) Tae-chan’s sleep pose.
2) Gin-chan deserved that...not for being insulting, but more for being stupid enough to say something insulting about Tae-chan to her face.
3) Damn right there was.
4) Kyuu-chan looked so pretty!!
5) I hated Toujou a little for being gross.
6) Kyuu-chan basically describing a soapland nuru massage. I blame Toujou’s influence.
7) I actually thought Kagura-chan was beautiful...in a unique and quirky way, yes, but she definitely looked better than Catherine.
8) The fact that her get-up had no affect whatsoever on Gin-chan made me admire him even more. Obviously he looks beyond the superficial in a mate.
9) Toujou and Catherine were pretty much useless.
10) I loved Paako and Pachi!! I was SO DISAPPOINTED when our Shinsengumi boys didn’t stay and join in the fun as well.
11) I can’t believe the anime team managed to make ShigeShige’s outfit even worse than it was in the manga. His nekkidness was a definite improvement. I don’t think I cared much about Shi-chan when we first met him. Like, he seemed to be a nice enough shogun, obviously had the tolerance of a saint, but otherwise, since I didn’t think we would see him much anyway, I didn’t really give him much thought. I miss him so much now.
12) The ladies really getting into the Shogun game. I liked the demons from hell effect, courtesy of the anime team.
13) Amazed Matsudaira didn’t shit his pants from seeing what was heading right at him.
14) Shi-chan really is such a goofball. His abs were pretty impressive though. Who would’ve thunk the Shogun works out.
16) Poor Shi-chan. First he gets made fun of for his undies, then for the size of his penis and then for the smell of his undies. He totally was getting bullied.
17) The close-up was courtesy of the anime team and I could not be more grateful for the mosaic and for the fact that it wasn’t in 3D.
18) I would’ve loved what the hell the “hostesses” were even doing to the Shinsengumi to bring about this kind of explosive result. Helicopters were being smashed midair, ffs. Must’ve been a bloody battle.
19) I actually thought it was a really sweet and almost romantic moment between Kyuubei and Shi-chan...
20) ...but then I immediately went back to feeling bad for him. She even threw the bench on him. I mean, OUCH. I’m amazed his balls survived the impact.
SHIPS TALLY:
ShigeShige x Kyuubei: at the time, I really thought Sorachi-sama was going somewhere with this potential ship. It would’ve been neat to see it happen. I do feel a bit disappointed that he didn’t go that way with their relationship after all.
Okita x Sacchan: on paper they’re pretty perfect for each other, and it would’ve been adorable in a kinky way. I doubt they would have survived the experience but I would’ve loved to see them try.
Toujou x Kyuubei: I do ship them because I always forget about Toujou’s whoring ways, but when I do remember, I don’t want him anywhere near Kyuu-chan.
Gintoki x Kagura: Kagura was being super jealous that Gintoki didn’t think she was beautiful.
Gintoki x Sacchan: of course.
Gintoki x Shinpachi: lotsa under-dressed physical contact going on. Plus they were communicating through ESP.
Kondou x Otae (and maybe Kondou x Hijikata x Otae as well): didn’t think Kondou was the sharing type but then again, Hijikata is one of his closest bros.

A Gintama chapter a day keeps the ending away...Lesson 459
MY 15 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN LESSON 459:
So much OkiKagu cuteness...I wish the arc hadn’t ended so soon, even though Kagura spent most of it immobilized and helpless, and at the mercy of Okita’s sadism and everyone else’s stupidity....
Moment 1: That is like the cutest funeral photo ever.
Moment 2: He brought her a rose! Awwww!!! I don’t care if his intentions weren’t the purest, the most important thing is he brought her a rose in front of everyone!
Moment 3: Again, I don’t care about his intentions, the rose! The rose is what matters! But seriously, what a cute, totally evil face.
Moment 4: Sougo is seriously uber sadistic. The King, everyone.
Moment 5: I know Kagura-chan was totally suffering, but honestly, I just have the biggest grin throughout this entire sequence every time I see it.
Moment 6: The conveyor belt of death strikes again!
Moment 7: I think Tama-chan did more damage to Kagura-chan than Okita did. Holy crap. Kagura’s poor eyeballs.
Moment 8: Tama, Kyuu-chan, Tsukky, and Sacchan are a lethal combination at funerals.
Moment 9: These two adorable morons.
Moment 10: Zura!!! I was so happy that despite the fact the funeral procession was practically swarming with cops and the military, he still showed up to pay his respects to his “leader”. How sweet is that???
Moment 11: This moronic and suicidal opportunist.
Moment 12: Look at Zura’s tears!!! The man was BAWLING! Seriously, how freaking sweet was that???!!!
Moment 13: My heart clenched a little when they presented Kagura with the umbrella. That was so sweet.
Moment 14: Honestly, I was kinda hoping at least Gin-chan was in on the joke, which would explain why he didn’t seem as sad as I thought he would be if Kagura had really died, but based on this, I guess he took it seriously, so I felt pretty disappointed that he didn’t even shed a tear for her. Of course I loved the arc overall, but this part never really sat right with me.
Moment 15: A family that gets cremated together, stay together.
SHIPS TALLY:
Okita x Kagura: to everyone else, Sougo’s reaction was for real so they must have thought he really had feelings for Kagura, which means in everyone’s eyes, THEY ARE CANON.
Gintoki x Sacchan and Gintoki x Kagura: because Sacchan felt so freaking threatened by Kagura, like she was a serious rival for Gin-chan’s affections.
Kagura x Hijikata: I just think it’s cute when Kagura calls Hijikata “Toshi”.
Kondou x Otae (or Hijikata x Otae): I mean, she thanked both of them so take your pick...or you could count them as a threesome if you’d like.
Hijikata x Zura: that’s probably one of the most shippiest moment they’ve had in the so far...at least that’s what it felt like to me.
