Just wanted to let you know that all your recent '90s J-fantasy and JRPG posts have got me wanting to replay 1993's The Secret of Mana (which, yes, does indeed lean into so many of the same tropes, lololol).

Glad you enjoyed and thanks for the recommendation! So, Secret of Mana, huh? I want to play many of those games now but I feel like I need a CRT monitor to fully please my aesthetic... I mean this thing:

O HAI THAR. Drive-by comment, but I saw Drop Dead Fred as a kid, way back when, and literally the ONLY line/scene I remember from it is the "no panties!" one, but I gotta say, all your recent blogging is making me REALLY want to rewatch it, pfft.

I will absolutely clarify my utter love and adoration of the film by saying that it has huge tone issues. It doesn’t quite know who it’s for. The studio wanted a Beetlejuice type film but didn’t have the director to pull it off. Without Carrie Fisher and Rik Mayall’s last second rewrites I don’t think it would have worked at all.

BUT. I DO love this film and it is absolutely always worth a watch. Watch it, and then come tell me what you think. Especially about the ending. ouo People tend to have a very different reaction to the film if they only saw it as kids and then see it as adults.

OHOHOHO, will I be able to coax you onto the Gaddes/Eries train yet???  ;D

I’ve been on that train since I read your fic. I can appreciate the potential. But I just won’t be able to ship it as much because I don’t know how to write Gaddes. He’s too well-adjusted and I’m more at ease writing more angsty characters. (Hmmm, what does that say about me LOL?)

Not a very inspired Zutara Week entry. I find I’m pretty proud of most of the few fics I churned out this year.

3. Favorite Scene/Line You Wrote This Year

The final scene of Revelations in the Rain, the Pride and Prejudice Fic I completed at last this year! I worked hard on it and I like to think it captured how I wanted Darcy to propose to Elizabeth.

I think they have anintriguing dynamic, a nice contrast in personalities though in essentials theyare probably the same. And I think Gaddes has chemistry with practicallyanyone.

Gaddes/Millerna

Again, Gaddes haschemistry with anyone and they would make a fun couple, both fairly cheerful indisposition.

I can see it workingafter Celena recovers from her stay with Zaibach. They can both support eachother and imagine them ruling Asturia together. Bonus points because it will besuper awkward for Allen.

Could work, I guess, butI really see them more as a weird sibling relationship. Any relationship withDilandau is going to be fraught anyway.

I used to ship it andback in the day, I read a bunch of well-written fics that sold me on this. Butin the last few years I really think that they would be better off living theirown lives. There will always be that unique connection, like a very powerfulsibling bond, but they need their independence.
