Prince Markie Dee of the Disco 3, which later changed their name to The Fat Boys, passed away two years ago today. Legends. I played this joint, "Human Beat Box", and the other track on the same single, "Fat Boys" like a thousand times on my box and my turntables in '84, '85', 86, and basically until my box and turntables were no more. Prince Markie Dee was one of the first Puerto Rican MC's and Brooklyn legends in the Hip Hop game. He went on to record as a soloist and write and produce for other huge acts. Not long before his passing, he had gotten his own show at Rock The Bells. I enjoyed watching his livestreams on IG. Seeing him and Eric B. buggin' out on a video chat was hilarious. (I think it's still there as a post so go check it out). Prince Markie Dee's personality on those videos reignited me as a fan and I spent over an hour on his page when I first started following, something I've never done on any other page. It was like hanging out with one of my homies. I looked forward to seeing more videos from him but I guess now I can just go back to his page and watch the old ones from time to time. Rest well, Mark Morales and Buffy AKA The Human Beatbox 🙏🙏🙏 (This performance was on the legendary New York Hot Tracks)
