The second child of a pilot and flight attendant, Dani Ramsey was a kid who always kept their eyes to the sky. They had an endless fascination with everything to do with planes – it felt like magic. From the moment Dani was old enough, they were begging to accompany their parents on long flights instead of their parents changing their work schedules or hiring a babysitter. They wanted to see what it was like from inside.

Their parents though they would grow out of it. That what they were dealing with was a childlike sense of wonderment for taking to the skies. They didn't. Though as Dani got older, the flights they were allowed to tag along on lessened – there was a difference between a little toddler in the cockpit and an annoying preteen conducting unofficial flight surveys. Dani was a smart kid, if not singularly motivated – they did well in school when it suited them, and they brushed it off when it didn't.

They knew what they wanted to do – they wanted to be a pilot. It didn't even seem to be much of a question. That changed when they were seventeen. Flights started to take a toll – for weeks after, they were hit with such intense bouts of vertigo that they could barely get out of bed. The subsequent ear pain was enough for the Ramsey's to take Dani to the doctor, where they were diagnosed with Meniere's disease. It was early, and it was a condition that didn't typically worsen until a person was in their 40s. It meant, apart from tinnitus – something Dani had grown so used to they forgot there wasn't a constant ringing for everyone – and the occasional migraine or vertigo spell, their life would be entirely functional. What their doctor didn't say that both Dani and their parents heard was that they could be a passenger on any plane they wished, but they would never be able to fly.

They pretended it didn't get to them. They were young. They would find something new. But something new never came. Dani still took on an internship at the Aerospace Center, which turned into a part-time job. They went to the community college, but their grades were just high enough to get the degree. No more, no less. Being a tour guide didn't quite pay the bills, so they took on a job at the Loveroots Motel. It was okay, they reasoned. They were happy enough – even if every plane that passed over T or C made them draw up short, even more than a decade later.

Riley born as Rurik Smirnov was born in New York after his parents moved from Russia right after they got married as teenagers. It didn't take long for them to start a family having their first born be a girl two years last followed Riley and 3 years after Riley another boy was born. The Rurik started to by Riley in school to make it a bit easier on him and being in an American school. He did fine in school but his parents pushed him and his siblings to get the best grades. Grades was what mattered to his family, as they wanted all their kids to go to college.

Riley had always been drawn towards nature and animals and had love for them. The type that took home hurt animals and would help at shelters and worked at dog day cares growing up. His parents found his hobby silly but he enjoyed it. But being in the middle of major city he rarely got to see nature and the real world.

Riley had always known he was different then his family and many around him. That he found himself looking towards males more then he was told was normal. But he kept that side of him to himself till he graduated high school. His parents let him to go college out of state even if it was just new hampshire. His father wanting all his kids in the medical field in one way or another. His older sister going into the medical field to be doctor. Riley did try to become a vet but his parents said no not under their dime so he went for school to become a nurse. His parents disappointed not thinking it was enough for them. Riley lasted two years into school before he gave into his feelings. Saying he didn't want to be a nurse or doctor of any type and he was dating another guy.

His parents did not take that news well at all, the fact their son wanted to drop out of college was what upset them the most at first. The other news not clicking at first. But Riley sold everything he owned and drove across the country wanting to travel to see all the state parks and spent a summer with a boyfriend doing that. They did drink a lot while on this summer road trip. He was at the camp when his boyfriend went out and ended up getting in car crash he was fine just beat up a bit but got in trouble and got a DUI. That caused them to be stuck in the town a while and his boyfriend got sent home by his parents but Riley kept on his road trip.

He went all over the United States the rest of the year before he ended up brown down in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. He sold his beat up car and lived in hotel for a while doing odd jobs before he landed his job at white water weekends. He loves it and loves being out in nature and being himself. He's been here 4 years now and loves it.
