X-Krawler Qualiark ———————————————— 2 "Krawler" monsters If this face-up card is destroyed by battle, or leaves the field because of an opponent's card effect while its owner controls it: You can target 2 "Krawler" monsters with different names in your GY; Special Summon them in face-down Defense Position. Apply these effects based on the number of "Krawler" monsters you control. ● 2+: All monsters you control gain 300 ATK/DEF. ● 4+: Your opponent's cards and effects cannot be activated during the Battle Phase. ● 6+: Your monsters can attack directly. ———————————————— Can Be Found In: Circuit Break (CIBR-EN050)
The Krawler archetype tries to take a defensive approach with an assortment of Flip effects, yet still able to keep a strong field pressence with a variety of swarming abilities. Each member provides a Flip effect that goes from board control to managing their members to stay on the lead, but when defeated by the opponent will be replaced by other Krawlers in our Deck and multiply in the process. With their Link Monsters requiring two materials soon or later they'll be ready to gain an offense that takes full advantage of their big numbers, and combined with tools providing further summons and recycle Flip effects Krawlers will son take full dominance of the board even at a disadvantageous scenario.
"X-Krawler Qualiark" is one of the big monsters the archetype will lead with, and the one that takes the most advantages of the summoning mechanics its kind offers. "Qualiark" continues the Krawlers' mechanic of summoning each other when defeated, except in its case will also trigger when defeated in battle and summoning Krawlers from the Graveyard face-down instead of from our Deck. The main ability of "Qualiark" actually comes depending of how many Krawlers we have on the field (Itself included), stacking effects together the more of them we can bring out. With atleast two Krawlers "Qualiark" will provide a 300 ATK and DEF boost to all monsters on our field, with four "Qualiark" forbids the opponent from using any cards and effects during the Battle Phase, and if we pretty much fill our whole field with Krawlers we'll be able to direct attack. Obviously "Qualiark" becomes more terrifying the more of its kind we can bring out to the point of becoming the archetype's winning condition, and with the many summoning options arround them is quite easy to achieve its three effects together.
In an archetype that assures a way to summon Krawlers in pairs, is quite easy to Link Summon a creature such as "Qualiark". Each Krawler will summon two of its kind when defeated, with their Main Deck members summoning from our Deck while Link Monsters like "Qualiark" itself reviving them from the Graveyard. That pretty much assures the arrival of "Qualiark" even in the worst situations, but since the opponent most likely will try to clear our board we still need assistance from other cards for coverage. "Krawler Glial" has the Flip effect of summoning Krawlers from either our hand or Graveyard therefore increasing the number of Krawlers we can bring in a single turn, while the Field Spell "World Legacy in Shadow" gives us an additional summon for Krawlers in our hand. Overall is more about being able to keep the big numbers Krawlers can provide with their constant summons, and with coverage from cards like the mentioned "World Legacy in Shadow" and members like "X-Krawler Synaphysys" and "X-Krawler Neurogos" protection effects, shouldn't be difficult to have atleast two Krawlers to Link Summon into "Qualiark".
"X-Krawler Qualiark" is pretty much the boss monster of the archetype, and although dependant of other members is no difficult to achieve its full potential with the many mechanics and resources arround them. One important thing is its arrows, letting us bring below them either "X-Krawler Synaphysys" or "X-Krawler Neurogos" to provide battle immunity to other Krawlers as well additional battle buffs. Then is really up to the summoning effects of their members, as even the defeat of "Qualiark" itself will bring two other Krawlers in return to keep a strong field advantage and/or Link Summon a new copy right away. While the main goal is to obtain a board full of boosted Krawlers to direct attack the opponent, "Qualiark" is still an efficient creature with its other Link Monsters assisting each other in battles and/or obtaining protection from certain effects during battles. Obviously we cannot forget of the Flip effects the archetype is known for, as with members like "Krawler Spine" and "Krawler Axon" taking down threats and cards like "World Legacy Pawns" giving us more chances to flip our Krawlers, "Qualiark" is more about teamwork rather doing all the job alone.
"X-Krawler Qualiark" is extremely dependant of its own archetype to obtain its full potential, but fortunately Krawlers has plenty of options to reach its peak performance even in the worst scenarios. With the ability of Krawlers to summon two members when defeated we can constantly assure "Qualiark" effects under pressure, combining other Krawlers' effects will make them virtually unbeatable in battles despite their default low stats, and its arrows letting us summon "X-Krawler Sunaphysys" and "X-Krawler Neurogos" with ease soon enough we'll have an unstoppable board to strike down the opponent with. Overall, Krawlers have a slow start due being Flip Monsters and being defeated to summon other members, but as soon "Qualiark" comes to the field they'll start taking a offensive approach as they quickly pile several effects from this monster as well from other members.
Personal Rating: A
+ Summons two Krawlers from the Graveyard if is defeated in battle or by an effect + Stacks several effects the more Krawlers we have on the field + Greatly supported by the archetype to obtain its full potential + Sinergy with other Krawlers' effects to obtain a powerful board together
- Extremely dependant of the entire archetype to obtain its effects
