Thoughts as I’m reading Morning Star. I’m about 10 chapters in
I can’t help comparing Darrow to Katniss, especially while he’s spending time with the injured people in the hospital.
The reds asking Darrow if the carvers let him keep his original dick or if they gave him a “proportionate” one. REAL! I also wondered that 😂
Sevro now using(?) wearing(?) Darrow’s eyes is so fucking funny to me. Sevro there are easier ways to declare your undying love for your best friend.
Sevro please fucking shower. You are going to give yourself some disgusting fungus or disease
I’m really glad Theodora is alive
I’m having a rough day, in a rough week, in a rough month. Ya know? And I thought to myself, you know who is having a worse time than me? The main character of this book I’m reading. So I’m gonna read it and let him suffer way worse shit than me, so I can feel better about my own life.
Shout out to you Darrow, I can always count on you to be having a worse day than me
I’m rewatching Knives Out for the millionth time, and I realized something that I never thought of before. When Harlan tells Marta not to call the ambulance or alert the family, he says that the reason she can’t do that is because her mom is undocumented. That is absolutely true and I am sure that is a part of the reason he constructed this plan. But the real reason he did it, was to protect Marta’s inheritance.
He already changed his will. Cleaned house and cut everyone off. Marta is already the sole inheritor and doesn’t know it. But if his death is in anyway her fault, even accidentally or held criminally responsible for his death, the slayer rule nullifies that.
I’m sure this is obvious to most people. But I just realized it
Being an adult is telling myself that my reward for going to my first day at my new job is an ice cream bar waiting for me at home and the new season of Game Changer
I’m rewatching the first season of The Mandalorian. And man, I forgot how short tempered Din is/was? It’s been so long I don’t really remember.
All of this is to say, I think it’s hilarious that he tried to BBQ the Jawas because they were teasing him about getting his parts back. The man has no chill 😂
The Knight and the Moth Spoilers below
Reading The Knight and The Moth made me intensely sad and I couldn’t parse out why until I got to the very end when we finally learn about Bartholomew. I had a feeling it was his own name. But it didn’t occur to me that he was the first ever diviner. And I realized the reason it was making me unreasonably sad all the way through, is because he was a little boy. He had a childish nature about him and he cried a lot. Because he is a child trapped forever as an immortal gargoyle that’s cursed to relive his own trauma and inflict it on others over and over and over again. Maybe it’s just because I’m a cry baby too. But it just broke my heart every time. So, I swear to god if we lose my baby boy Bartholomew in The Knave and the Moon, I’m gonna lose my entire mind.
Also, since I’m already yapping. I knew Benji was gonna be a piece of shit. Elitist motherfucker. I hope he dies horribly.
Rory is a great mmc, I love how down bad he is. I love that he blushes and gets flustered by his absolutely buff, badass girlfriend. I love that even after he and Sybil hooked up, he still teased her and was stubborn and they still had little fights. Some people may say he was heavy handed for asking for consent at every single move he made, but I kinda enjoyed it. He could tell Sybil needed that high level attention and communication.
Maude. My BELOVED. I’m not maternal Maude. You had all of your bones crushed by a giant tree, and she said my deranged trauma bonded children still need me, so I’m going.
And Sybil. I often have a hard time with main characters. But I actually really enjoyed her. I loved her relationship with her diviner sisters. I truly think her and One may have loved each other in a romantic way if they had the opportunity to explore it. Or at least, I feel like One loved her. I hope that there was a moment in between them leaving the Weaver’s cave and the Cathedral where she got to lay One to rest in a proper way. And tell Rory which sister this was and just how much she meant to her. I also loved how she demonstrated the struggle of letting go of the most basic elements of faith and that deconstructing is arduous work.
I’m so so so glad I was talked into reading Rachel Gillig’s works. I read One Dark Window earlier this week and now I’m waiting on pins and needles for Two Twisted Crowns to become available on Libby. I’m really not a big romance reader, even though I love love stories. But this is exactly what I truly enjoy, fantasy, magic, secrets, good vs evil being nuanced, and just a bit of love. Because what are we fighting the good fight for, if not for happiness, safety and love.
