What is your wildest headcanon?

I have a few.

MCU: Sam Wilson was a band kid in high school.

Stargate Atlantis: There’s something a little off about John Sheppard. While he’s very good at pretending to be normal, sometimes, when things are getting real and lives are on the line, the mask slips just a bit. Just a little uncanny valley for anyone lucky enough to survive the next few minutes. (It does kind of explain the in-canon luck, and the body count)

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: “The monks made her out of me” – Dawn Summers was Buffy’s daughter; specifically, Buffy was pregnant when the monks made the Key into human form… and that microscopic embryo was taken and aged and given memories through magic, and shoved into Buffy’s life as her little sister, not her daughter.

And I kinda always thought Buffy knew that.

What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?

Worldbuilding: Inevitable – especially in levelling-up Anita’s powers through the Bokor Majeur, and everything about the London vampires and Elsa in particular.

Relationships: Child of the Wolf – Everything about this fic just snaps into place with Stiles as the centre of everything, with Scott and Derek and the pack and with Allison and Lydia and his dad, as well as the Avengers side of things as well. Even though it took me seven years to finish (and even that was inspired by MCU-motivated spite) I really like it how it rounded out into a nice fic. Which, of course, I then blew apart in Hour of the Wolf, but it wouldn’t have hurt so much if Allison hadn’t had so much to lose.  

Overall presentation: Hands of Clay. Considering the domestic AU nature of the story, it could have turned out kinda lame, but I think that the real life nature of things really played out well, and the relationships that develop between the four members of the eventual Buck-Rogers Barnes-Rogers family made for a really interesting story. Writing Bucky’s PTSD was hard, ngl, but also slightly cathartic.

Also, a word on endings. One of the things I always regretted about Inevitable was ending is so abruptly – it was what it was, but I always sort of felt that the emotional weight of what was happening didn’t land as I had intended. With Hands of Clay, I really, really wanted to wrap things up where Bucky and Steve (and Natasha and Clint) all got their happily-ever-after, especially after everything Natasha went through in the latter chapters.

So we got the outtakes. Clint getting his dog. Natasha asking Steve to adopt her. Steve’s hilarious attempt at proposing. And then the final chapter: the wedding, and Bucky getting to have everyone in his life in one room, with some good food, watching him getting married to the love of his life.

Not bad, even if I do say so myself :)

For the FF trope: time loop, eldritch and gods/spirits?

time loop: A+++++. i love it. i love them. i eat them. they are the right texture. despair. temporary character death. guilt. laughter. mystery solving for forever. how much do you trust the people beside you. how do you get out. can you get out. love it mua mua muah.

eldritch: B. i don't go out searching for them and it depends on the author. I like writing it a lot but reading it really depends heavily on the author and fandom. I am almost always down for weird little eldritch kids who are loved immensely, though. it's the undiagnosed childhood autism in me.

gods/spirits: B again. largely the same as eldritch, but now with more of a power fantasy. I love a good 'now you fucked up' moment in these.

So I just found your songs and I'm? In love? The rhythm, the melody, the lyrics... It's perfect? I have been listening to Milé Magnificent on repeat for nearly hour now and I'm still feeling it man... It's so good

first of all really cannot say enough how much i’d called it “milé magnificent.” second of all: thank you!! is there any better feeling than when a song like, hooks under your skin and your brain does that thing where it’s like, “yes, we will listen to Only This For The Next Two Weeks And Then We Will Discard It Completely In Favor Of A New Hyperfixation”? because honestly i don’t think there is.

Honestly the way you present the old konoha, from the five comic, it's amazing. I can get lost in the background just thinking about how life used to be there and it's outstanding how you work the social and political issues. Really, it's a masterpiece

I Know The Feel (tm), and since I run on pain and angst huhu knowing what’s coming and agonizing over it is what’s been fueling my drive to finish this story :D Thank you!

Thank you so much!!! When I was younger I was always afraid to /shied away from making stories with side characters because I felt like they edged too close to the edge of original characters (and when I was younger, OCs were frowned upon like whoa), but nowadays I’m more comfortable with them, and really enjoy peppering the story with their perspective. I blame (and equally thank) Naoki Urasawa’s Monster, which taught me this “technique”, as it were, to tell a story piecemeal through side character’s observations about and interactions with the main character(s). It’s quite fun! :D

For the character thing: rei from sailor Moon

i don’t remember at all what this was about, i know it was a character meme, but i will say that Rei is my Aries kween. i love her attitude, i love that she’s in love with usagi and also mina, i love that she’s rude but has such a soft core. i want to write sailor moon fanfic but i’m too shy even though i’ve read and watched the entire thing, but good god if i were to write fic about anyone it would be Rei. as a child i identified with usagi being a crybaby and a big eater, and as an adult i identify with sailor mars because she’s Mean but also Baby. <3

12 Talk about a new friend you made this year

making friends is hard at any time, and this pandemic has been grinding away at things, you know? part of me is happy I haven't lost every friend I have. maybe that can be a 2023 new year's resolution, to try to meet at least one (1) new person in a social context.

18 A memorable meal this year?

I have a few! Mostly memorable because I took pictures and as they say, pictures or it didn't happen.

Memorable food: in June, I went to the Vancouver Art Gallery with a good friend and we had a really interesting conversation about AI, as there was an exhibit on the history of Artificial Intelligence, then after we went to Hawksworth (one of those swank places that is too pretentious for people who have to work for a living) for lunch because why not play into the stereotype of ladies who lunch. I got the beef wellington because if i'm going to pretend i may as well go hard, and blew my restaurant budget for the month but it was actually worth it. Also, a raspberry gelato that was perfectly sweet and tart, as a good raspberry do.

Memorable conversation: in April, a group of us went to the Cannibal Cafe, a Vancouver punk standby) and I had the below burger and while the burger wasn't all that memorable (it needed more sauce) one of the attendees spent some time detailing Willem Dafoe's, uh, prodigious filmography. At length.

Memorable presentation: the time my mother cut a cake like this:

24 Did you keep any New Year’s Resolutions?

the only one I really kept was my promise to myself to stop stressing myself to death over my email, which I achieved through a poor man's inbox zero - ie create a folder called "2022" and, when an email comes in, triage this way:

IF it can be replied to right away and I feel like it, THEN reply and file.

OR IF it needs to be dealt with later, or it has a longer runway, THEN make a note in a OneNote called DEAL WITH THIS SHIT and then file the email

OR if I can delete it i delete it

I have 6,423 emails in the 2022 folder at this point which is kind of gross but at least I know that I only dropped seven balls this year, not 6,423.
