Life is full of disappointments, frustrations, & heartbreaks... But, it is ALSO full of joy, peace, happiness, love, success & achievements! . To experience the joys & successes of life, you will have to endure some (or rather a lot 😳😫 of) pain & failures, which is why your faith must be greater than the disappointments, frustrations & heartbreaks you experience. Within me & within us all is a longing to live our best, greatest lives & become our highest selves. We cannot do so by playing it safe or not having the courage, guts & faith to go after what we want. My transformative moments have come through my faith acts, when I have gone when I didn’t know how I could financially do so &/or when fear & doubt gave me a million “logical” reasons & excuses for why I should not be, do or go. . What made me be, do, & go for it anyways has been my #faith. A faith that says I deserve better & more; that I was created for this; this is what God has for me; & this is what my heart longs for & deserves. . When he saw them coming, he was overcome with pity & healed their sick. Toward evening the disciples approached him. “We’re out in the country & it’s getting late. Dismiss the people so they can go to the villages & get some supper.” But Jesus said, “There is no need to dismiss them. Pain, failure, & heartbreak are signs that you are fully living! Don’t allow them to force you to retreat...to retreat from a successful, happy, & love-filled destiny. Instead, allow your faith to be stronger than any pain, failure, heartbreak & opposition you experience. In God’s time & way & w/God’s help, the life that your have been longing for & that God created you for shall come to pass. But to get there, to your promised land, you must endure great pain, struggle, opposition & failure. He noticed 2 boats tied up. The fishermen had just left them & were out scrubbing their nets. He climbed into the boat that was Simon’s & asked him to put out a little from the shore. Sitting there, using the boat for a pulpit, he taught the crowd. . 4 When he finished teaching, he said to Simon, “Push out into deep water & let your nets out for a catch.” . 5-7 Simon said, “Master, we’ve been fishing hard all night & haven’t caught even a minnow. But if you say so, I’ll let out the nets.” It was no sooner said than done—a huge haul of fish, straining the nets past capacity. They waved to their partners in the other boat to come help them. They filled both boats, nearly swamping them w/the catch. . 8-10 Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell to his knees before Jesus. “Master, leave. I’m a sinner & can’t handle this holiness. Leave me to myself.” When they pulled in that catch of fish, awe overwhelmed Simon & everyone w/him. It was the same w/James & John, Zebedee’s sons, coworkers w/Simon. . 10-11 Jesus said to Simon, “There is nothing to fear. Tonight I pressed my way to @mistyonpointe’s book signing @fishseddynyc with @abtofficial. On the #DayoftheGirl, it felt right to do this and be here. NYC was never my “dream” city. I actually find it VERY hard to be here. My being here is totally God’s dream for me. The challenges, struggles and obstacles that I have faced, overcome and endured personally, mentally and professionally have created me and continue to create me into my greatest, highest and best self. Girls and women in this nation and world have it tremendously hard for various reasons, especially black women and girls and other women and girls of color. On this #DayoftheGirl 2017, I want every woman and girl to know that those women and girls that they admire and look up to like #MistyCopeland are no different from them. These women and girls have “done the impossible” in the face of overwhelming and seemingly insurmountable odds. And they can to. In truth, they must, because this is the world we live in. To be a woman and girl is to be great, capable, and enough.
