"Here, lie down and put your head in my lap," Krie instructs. When they do so, the undine begins massaging their temples with gentle fingertips. "Does that help at all?"

Kovir knows full well that there’s no point in wasting any more time throwing silly tantrums; complaining about a problem isn’t going to make it go away.
And said problem clearly isn’t going to leave them anytime soon, what with their most reliable ( and alas, limited ) source of relief — some mere, damned medication — having inexorably ran out like nothing, with no current way or plan to obtain more of it that wouldn’t be incredibly risky, if not utterly implausible in the first place; they have to thank the Empire for that.
The Galra also knew full well this was going to happen if they kept staying with the Undine, but like a fool, they didn’t dare think about the time the so-called ‘deadline’ would have come. They clung to the flimsy hope that it wasn’t going to be necessary, that surely they would have found a solution before then.
But they have to face the fact there is no simple solution to this.
With a resigned sigh that fades into yet another hiss, they oblige. The pain is nearly unbearable — more reminishing of what one would expect from a burning dagger digging through their skull — and it’s fogging their entire mind, leaving little room for coherent thought. They try their best to focus on that little comforting gesture, even if this alone demands a great deal of strength from them; but it’s the only thing that is keeping them from getting completely delirious as well.
Few moments pass in what would otherwise be absolute silence, if it weren’t for Kovir’s labored breathing and— no, they refuse to call it whimpering. They would rather keep going through this agony than acknowledge they have stooped so low.
What Krie is doing right now is… not soothing enough, obviously; if only a simple massage was enough to keep these recurring migraines at bay. But even through the pain, there is… something else, a feeling they’re not sure they can pinpoint in one word.
Dimly, they think…
When was the last time I went through this with the company of someone?
“ It— it does, ” they mutter, finally. They don’t know how but it does, even if just a little bit. Kovir’s features have relaxed noticeably by now: eyes closed, only a mild grimace left.
A tick later they open their mouth again, but words struggle to come out, as if they haven’t quite figured out what to say yet. “ Can you— er. I… ”
“ Can we… stay like this for a while? ”

An absent-minded hum is what the kit offers as a response before trotting towards the table. The wide array of supplies scattered all over the place has indeed piqued their curiosity; they have never seen so many at once!
Kovir takes a good look at the colorful items one by one; they’re not sure they know what the word ‘creative’ means, but it’s not like they’re unfamiliar with the purpose they serve. Their eyes linger on the finger paints, taking a particular interest in them… more because of how appetizing they look than anything else.
Acting on impulse, the kit ends up grabbing one of the pots and bringing it to their mouth, with the intent of drinking the paint out of the container.
(spacefischy) In the garden she creeps up behind them, knowing no amount of stealth on her part will allow her to evade detection by their sensitive ears. She watches their hands at work as they handle each flower with a tenderness they do not show to other living things. A swell of adoration rises in her heart, and she presses herself to their back, murmuring, “Don’t mind me. I just wanted to be near you.”

Kovir’s gaze was focused on the variety of plants before them. The blossoms of certain species still felt so delicate, so frail under their touch; way different from what they were used to. Fortunately, their familiarity with them has only been growing by the day, and as a result their handling has now gotten considerably better.
Indeed, having sensed her presence in advance, they are hardly surprised to find the Undine standing right behind them. Once she closes the distance, the Galra greets her with a fond smile, and with a hum they reach a hand to stroke her cheek — wordlessly telling her she is welcome to stay for as long as she wants.
“ They are growing finely, ” they say, delightfully admiring the flora they have been taking care of before letting their eyes dwell on a few ones in particular. “ Take a look at these. The bythrium have started to bloom. ”

As Kovir focused on coming back to their senses and giving Krie the comfort she much needed, they evaluated the situation. It was oddly amusing, thought a part of them; they only got to have a good look at the stranger’s face the moment he laid among the trash on the brink of death. The Galra had, admittedly, acted long before thinking; people of this sort could easily be dealt with without bloodshed, and a simple threat was often enough to send them running. This time was no different... or so it seemed, until their eyes had met and the robber regarded them in a way that suggested he had recognized them — as Commander Kovir.
Though they felt nothing at all for the victim, Kovir still wished it hadn’t come to this. Not in front of Krie. They were conscious of how much she loathed this kind of brutality; would she think of them any differently for letting her witness this side of theirs, even if it was to protect her ( and themselves )? Kovir let out a deep sigh — more out of resignation than anything — but they were glad their instructions seemed to be helping, which contributed to their own state of mind. Their train of thought was, however, interrupted the moment she spoke.
“ ...What are you saying, Krie? ” They replied with a tone that sounded terribly out of place, just barely suppressing a laugh as if she had just made a silly joke. Did she want to help him? That sounded just like her. “ You know we can’t risk letting him... start something. ” Kovir stroked her cheek reassuringly, but this time it was the dryness of their voice that didn’t quite match the gesture. “ Unless you can think of a better alternative. ”
