After reading KS chapter, Jesus be like:

KS Ch. 20 - Why Bum Refused to Escape

I feel so much pity for Bum at this point.

Why did he refuse to escape? His kidnapper and abuser willingly lets him go, yet he runs right back inside?

He said he was scared, but scared of what? Scared of being thrown into prison or being institutionalised, the only possibilities if he were to report to the police.

Scared because he has nowhere else to go? Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t Sangwoo buy (or at least take ownership) of Bum’s home? Even if so, Bum wouldn’t be aware of that; though is aware that his rent has been overdue for some time and that his Landlady has had enough of Bum paying rent late, so could assume that the Landlady gave his place away.

Scared because he no longer views himself as someone who needs saving? That to the outside world, he’s now a criminal; can never return to his old peaceful stalking life. He no longer views himself as a victim of Sangwoo but mostly likely as someone who’s just as bad as his abuser.

One of my theories being that he’s scared that he’ll kill someone else if doesn’t stay confined in Sangwoo’s house. Stay where he is to prevent dangers to others.. Too scared to go outside in case someone recognises him and (though impossible) realises that he’s committed murder and notifies the police. His paranoia makes him believe that everyone knows his crimes and that he will be punished.
