Launched the week is the new website for Safari Barbers in Grayshott. Providing a walk in service easily accessible with plenty of parking locally. KSSWeb were pleased to do the whole site including the photography, website design and logo. We are looking forward to helping them establish a good business in the village.

Just finished another site update for kssweb.com and now need to clear the decks (and clear my head) and move on to doing a new portfolio web site.

Site Update Completed

We completed all the major work on our main http://www.kssweb.com website and a few days ago as we switched from an adaptive to a responsive layout and a also changed the colour scheme. In the days since then then we had to change focus and design,build and create new contents for a site for a client. So it has been a hectic few days. Whilst I have been working on these two projects Maria has been refining and finishing our new KS Computing site. Anyway we are planning some new posts on how to develop your business on-line.

A Repost of an interesting article

I am not sure whether I totally agree with the author about web design losing its soul though I think real originality has always been a little sparse and comes with new technologies that allow radical departures from established norms.

Web sites design will follow trends and fashion just like everything else and the things we can do now we could not do 10 years ago. So for many businesses web sites should be continually evolving and developing, not regarded as static works of art. In fact for serious players on the web once you have launched a site you should already be considering how to improve it and develop it and the tools we have as developers now allow us to do this more easily then ever before.

In 2014 I had been seriously ill, I had no work on and as I recovered I started to focus my work on what is now emerging as kssweb. At the time I was not sure what my plan was, in fact I was saying I am creating a new business but I have no exact plan, we will see where things take us. It is because of the setbacks and upsets that I understand business. I have seen both sides of the coin and when I have fallen I pick myself up and go again!

So what is the difference in traffic levels to a website that is looked after, regularly updated and promoted versus one that is left to fend for itself?

You might be surprised....two basic observations are:

1) Over a 4 month period in 2016 taking 24hr sessions for multiple sites...the web sites where the businesses are being actively promoted receive between 10 and 30 times more traffic!

2) The gap between the active businesses traffic and the inactive business increases over time. So on the unmarketed business traffic is flat or in decline, whereas on the active businesses site traffic builds.

The moral of the story is "promote your business", just because there is a client now does not mean you will retain a client in the weeks and months to come.

When we manage a web site for clients we know how traffic patterns can change and vary and that is why we seek clients who want more than a bookmark site and who are passionate about what they are doing.
