Aikido on Friday

Fist of all I would like to thank everyone for the feed-backs on my aikido posts and rest of the posts! Your thoughts really mean a lot to me. So now I finally found some time to post about the training we had on Friday. Started off with heavy warm up: push ups, abs, etc.

Weapon training: rolls with aiki ken (forward, backward,side), shiko dashi, 6 direction cut with the aiki ken then 4 direction cut.

Tanto Dori. My partner was a 6th Kyu girl with glasses. I had to be really careful with her to throw her well. It was one of the times when I felt the pressure of not only performing the technique but also caring for how the uke lands. There was a koshinage again which scared her quite a bit especially that she was supposed to keep the tanto in her hand during the break fall. She thought it would get her eye out or something. We also did some kote gaeshi which she didn't like either. However what she really liked was, to my great surprise, the kubishime also from tanto attack. I think it is because she used to do ballet and she found it really easy to lean back in the head lock. Plus she did not have to break fall from this one. I had a lot of fun! And now we have a long weekend because of national holiday so the next training is on Wednesday. Will keep you updated!
