Well the rough month continues

Our (budget billing) electric bill got jumped up to over twice what it should be because of a janky old swamp cooler that wound up being replaced a week or so ago somehow using enough power that we used 826kwh in July, and now Kuiper's health problems are acting up again.

I had to take him to the ER vet on Saturday because I realized he wasn't eating, probably hadn't eaten for at least 1-2 days previously, and I wasn't sure he was drinking. Every time he tried taking a bite of food, he'd drop it and run and hide like the food bit him back, so I thought maybe he needed a bad tooth removed or something.

$900 later they couldn't find a specific bad tooth or anything but gave him antibiotics and a gabapentin prescription and told me to take him to a vet who deals more in dental problems and/or his regular vet.

...He's eating again on painkillers, but they run out in 4 days, his antibiotics in 7, and I need to make an appointment at his regular vet to see what they say and try and at least get more antibiotics and painkillers so he can keep eating. An estimate for an exam there and then his medications is about $250-300.

I do not have $250. I am completely wiped out from the ER vet, so I can't even make him a new appointment. The disability Trust that helps us with stuff like swamp coolers will not help me with vet bills because back when it was started up when my mom passed, relatives didn't like that I had extraneous expenses like pets. (You know, my emotional support animals that have helped me fight my depression all my damn life.)

I even tried applying for Care Credit but my weird-ass address I have because this was once part of another property is not accepted as legitimate by their systems so I was halted at the first step and can't even talk to their customer service. Because you have to successfully make an account and application to talk to customer service.

So I'm in a bind with the poor little guy, and any help would be appreciated. I'm $bakafox on Cashapp and foxotillo on Venmo. I no longer use Paypal as I had issues with my old account and have had problems making a new one.

A Vet Bill Cometh

So Kuiper's paw problem has been diagnosed as the first case of plasma cell pododermatitis that our vet has seen in her long career. He got a steroid shot yesterday as well as antibiotics to try keeping infections from happening while the steroid shot hopefully helped his system do its thing, but he has to go back in 2 weeks for a check in, and possibly another round of shots.

I am hoping it isn't needing to be a monthly steroid shot forever, because I cannot afford that. As it is, I am going to struggle to come up with the vet money for the 30th. If it's the same shots as this time, the bill will be $106, and if you are in a space to help I could use it, even a few bucks towards that. I am $bakafox on CashApp and @foxotillo on Venmo. I don't have a Paypal going right now, I need to set up an all new account because my old one is still marked as a business acct from when I was trying to make a go of my art studio and tee-shirts etc, which means it won't really handle donations, it takes a bite out of anything sent.

If you can't help, no worries, and no pressure, I do not want to put anyone in a tougher spot than I'm in- though if you could please think good thoughts about the stupid condition responding to meds and clearing up and going away for a while, that'd be grand.

My seldom photographed boy, Kuiper Lavellan. He lurks in darkness and is very shy, and tends to get up and move if he sees the phone in my hand. He absolutely HATES that furniture and stuff is being moved around and boxes of Roz's stuff are appearing, he does not like changes in his surroundings.

He does however love having me pet that fluffy belly and side of his, and will start grooming my hand if I do it right. He only really wants to be petted on the bed, and will run from a pet most of the time elsewhere, but on the bed will get jealous and crowd in if Solas or Frumpkin are being petted.

He also is one of the most likely cats to exchange a face grooming with another in the house, particularly with Solas and Frumpkin, but also surprisingly with the Void, and he was my late Oreo's best cuddle friend.

Since Oreo died, Kai doesn't actually cuddle and lie with anyone, though he used to with Solas too.
