she gets that feeling. more or less better than anyone else you know would. considering her horrific past, she would wake up and go into the day blindly, not knowing what there is to come for the next string of long hours. she’s been rejected by monstadts people, by her own family.
so when you express your feelings to her, she gets it. but she’ll still do her best to comfort you anyways.
so, she started paying more attention to the things you do and the interactions you have with people.
the first time she witnessed something was when you had tried oh so hard to gain the trust of the acting grand master, jean, just for it to all crumble down due to a silly rumor that an immature guard decided to spread around the favonius headquarters. it had caused a lot of backlash on your part from the cities residents and from all of the knights and the vision holders that are affiliated with them.
and then, once you regained her trust and worked day and night to get the residents on a good t with you, your family decided to shame you for no reason whatsoever, and bringing another issue you worked to fix for yourself into your life.
it felt rather draining, being unable to catch a break. one thing after another, one day at a time. life felt like a cycle to you at this point.
whether you had a brutal injury in combat and had to work endlessly (or at least to what felt like it) to prove your strength to yourself and the world once more or simply had to regain trust, you were genuinely tired.
so, eula tries to take the burden. at first, she tries to take in entirely, but you both knew that wouldn’t be possible. she wasn’t the one injured, or the one who was mere seconds from being roughly escorted out of the city. she couldn’t necessarily shoulder that without being the one in the position.
but what she could do was allow you to cry and express your emotions to her when you’re in the safety of your own home. you both knew that she wouldn’t turn on you for your life cycle. she was the only person you felt you could genuinely trust at the time and you felt really grateful to have someone as wonderful as her.
she’s been making it much easier for you to live now, and she’ll proceed to do so throughout the rest of the time the world gives you two.
kujou sara
you understood she didn’t have much time to listen and understand what your life is like, and all of the traumatic and upsetting stories that go with your name. she’s constantly out, fulfilling her loyalty to the esteemed shogun and leading over the tenryou commission, and she doesn’t come back until late most nights, if she even does come back. you completely understand what she does and why it’s so important, and she always tries so hard to make you feel loved and that she has time for you.
but you haven’t had that chat about yourself with her yet. and you don’t know when you will.
she first picks up on something being not right when you came home, trying so so hard to fight back tears and nearly failing. you excused yourself to the shower, allowing the tears to spill due to the water muting your cries.
but she knew. she knew something was up, and she wanted to ask you about it, but at this very moment was one of the first times she thought she couldn’t make up the words to confront you. so when she does, it sounds more like a demand then a question. you both knew that it wasn’t supposed to sound that way.
once you told her, she nodded, getting up and making you some tea to try and soothe you. she didn’t try to pressure you into relaxation, or to tell you to be calm. because telling you that would be unfair. she’s not that way, so why should she force you to be?
like eula, she’ll keep a close eye on you sometimes. the first time she witnessed what she had at first thought was your downfall, she tried to keep herself composed as you struggled to get the blade out of your stomach.
it was one hell of a journey to get you back on your feet. not only was this weighing down on you, the thought of disappointing sara or being a burden to her (considering her 5 hour stays at the hospital nearly every single day) haunted you. corrupted your sleep, and corrupted your mind whenever she was helping you through your physical therapy work.
once you were back on your feet, it seemed like another thing after another happened. you were asked so much out of the citizens of inazuma city, and even yelled at, until you snapped at one of them and it was the headline in the papers. even guuji yae looked into it. then again, you worked to build yourself up again.
no matter how vicious the cycle, you knew you always had sara there to support you.

she wasn’t stupid, she knew something was upsetting you, but didn’t want to ask. since the loss of her father she’s learned certain ways to cope, and she just thought you were using your ways to cope, too.
but she realized it was much more than that.
you two had heard rumors of someone going around and pickpocketing people, taking mora. so, considering she wanted to try and solve such a mystery, she asked you if you’d like to accompany her, and you agreed.
the person who did it was a fontaine citizen who had been doing this for years to survive. the woman lived on the streets, occasionally stealing food from food stands when they came out, or threatening cafe owners into giving her what she wanted.
considering the fact that she could be considered mental, she framed you. and you were the one who had to face the repercussions.
thats when navia really started to realize that this wasn’t the first time something this horrible has happened to you, considering your reaction to the whole situation and how you brushed it off whenever she’d bring it up. you had a 4 month sentence in the fortress, and though it used to be something like 4 years, navia made a deal with wriothesley into shortening it due to false accusation.
but once you got out of the prison, it seemed you couldn’t catch a break from tragedies. from things you didn’t even know you were doing to things people made up lies about, you felt that you constantly had to prove yourself to the people of the city, to prove that you weren’t a horrible person whose only interest is stealing peoples things and hurting others.
navia would let you talk for as long as you possibly needed, listening extra hard when you mention some more disturbing topics that you barely got back up from, but managed to anyways. she understood the comparison when you mentioned how it feels like a never ending cycle of devastating events, and how you were tired of always being forced to be the bad guy in situations you didn’t even know were happening half of the time.
she’ll settle your cries with a nice warm hug (if it gets to the point of crying) and makes sure she can help you in any way you need when another one of these incidents happen. she knows she’ll never be able to make it all go away, but she tries to at least make it less of a weight to carry around when you two are together.
kujou sara with an obnoxious kitsune!reader that teaches her to be a little more selfish, to live instead of endlessly carrying out missions like a programmed dog.
the brain worms hath caught up to me and i love this dynamic. like, you're the coffee intern of the shrine, meaning yae just sends you out to the city every once in a while to do miscellaneous tasks. this time yae has requested you to get an order of fried tofu noodles though your eyes catch a peek of someone's menu, and suddenly your cravings get the better of you.
hijinks ensue, you've just played into someone's fantasy about being a great yokai guardian of the grand narukami shrine, and get some offerings (mora! yippie!) out of it. you order both grilled unagi fillet and yaes fried tofu noodles.
your schemes continue until a certain general catches wind of a scammer running through the streets of inazuma city, parading around and acting as a great yokai guardian. it's safe to say she wouldn't have trouble finding out who the scammer in question was; shrine maidens aren't commonly found in a market.
though, catching this thief is proving quite the challenge. everytime she heads your way—in your vicinity—you break into a sprint. even if your scams have reached it's end, you still haven't compensated the victims, so she's still looking for you.
months pass, the victims in question have received enveloped mora in the mouth of a fox. is this your way of compensating? she ponders.
there hasn't been any other kitsune in the city other than yae miko, and there haven't been any suspicious looking people at the tailor requesting a shrine maidens outfit.
perhaps the next time she pays a visit to the grand narukami shrine, she'll ask about you.
++ i think this is how I'd like it to go, believe it or not, my first draft on this idea (about 5ish months ago?) had reader being caught immediately and trying to waffle her way out of questioning (i couldn't write past it, there's no way kujou sara wouldn't be able to stop the conversation from derailing) but there's something abt kujou sara seeking you out, something SHE would like to do. like... she's asking yae miko about the shogun and her wellbeing, yae's responses are obviously halfhearted... that is until kujou sara is about to bring the conversation to an end. she remembers that scammer from a while back, and asks about it. about you. THEN yae's tuned in like "why does the general wanna know abt some random shrine maiden?" and then kujou sara spills the beans......, now u have not only been demoted to the statue scrubber, you have immense calf pain from walking up and down the shrine and to the forest.
and then reader holds a grudge against kujou sara...., so the next time u see her, instead of running you scold her for snitching.
then kujou sara stands her ground, saying that you shouldn't have been scamming people in the first place.... and then well. I'll write abt that later

You know her, you didn't even need to finish your sentence and she agreed immediately to come to the beach.
Relaxing with you by her side while listening to calming sounds of the ocean was truly a paradise.
AND on top of that she gets to see you in a swimsuit, there is literally no reason for her to refuse.
She was quickly ready to go, and of course she had to impress you with her own choice of swimwear as well.
Although she wasn't doing much swimming, she preferred a good nap under the shade. But if you asked her to, she would come with you for a few minutes to cool off. Still the two of you didn't spend evey single second together.
So, if you happened to leave Lisa alone for a longer time it was very likely to get hit on. At first she'd politely shoo anyone away, but you already know what happened to the persistent types. After all, if there is something to fear it's Lisa who lost her patience.
And she'd gladly tell you that story. Mostly to calm herself down. But after talking to you she quickly forgets about it since just looking at you makes her thoughts go back to a better place~

She didn't feel the heat as badly as you did, but she'd be lying if she said that she was against the idea of going to the beach.
She was looking forward to also trying some drinks at a bar. After all: you need to hydrate yourself. Especially during weather like this.
Thankfully the ridiculous beach prizes weren't so encouraging, so she didn't drink too much.
So after that refreshing start you decided to have usual beach fun. The cold water was almost like a blessing.
If you splash her, you know that she will fight back. Even if your splash is gentle- you just started a war. One that she will win.
And it was clear how much fun she was having, although she wouldn't admit half of it. "It was just a nice way to cool off, nothing more nothing less" kind of excuse.
You knew the truth though, but you decided to not make her uncomfortable by teasing her and pushing her to admit to it.
Still you couldn't resist small comments here and there, thankfully she didn't mind.
Kujou Sara
She pretended the heat wasn't getting to her, shielding herself from the sun with her wings but it wasn't much help since her wings being cooked by the sun wasn't a pleasant feeling either.
She was stubborn, claiming that she doesn't need a break. But you managed to eventually convince her. After all, if not to cool off, she can't say no to a regular date with you right?
You didn't know why she was avoiding it so much, and she didn't want to tell you either. She quickly got adjusted to your plans though.
When you got there she was feeling spending the time more actively. So running along the shore, swimming. Literally anything but sitting still. At least for the start.
Since with how hot it was, the idea of just sitting and doing nothing just seemed like you're going to be tortured by the sun.
Be it volleyball, swimming or just running she just wanted to do something. No matter what you ended up doing, she wasn't going all out on it.
It was all just casual fun. And watching her enjoy herself was amazing. She still had that focused look on her face that is so intimidating (and charming) yet when she spoke you could tell that she was relaxed.
Nilou
In general during such hot weather she made it clear how important it was to hydrate yourself often as well as apply sunscreen. So she reminded you both of such every once in a while whenever you were exposed to the sun for a longer time.
She was also suffering from that heat, so she was surprised she didn't come up with the beach idea herself! She had a lot of ways to battle the hot weather but in the end a date with you is something she just can't refuse.
While you were on your way some of her merchant friends insisted to give her "a few" items... But at least it was something you could use on the beach so you didn't have to go home to put everything away, such a nice coincidence...
Compared to how much stuff she usually gets it was pretty light this time. So you didn't have to suffer the heat with heavy luggage on top of that.
Even with that few interruptions and delay, you finally made it to the beach and Nilou almost immediately took your hand and the two of you went for a swim as soon as you placed everything down.
It was just so hot, walking to the beach was only making her look forward to swimming even more.
Her smile when she finally felt the refreshing cold water was to die for. She had a lot of fun swimming. And when she looked carefully she saw a few pretty shells. So she ended up picking them throughout your beach day. She didn't do anything with them exactly, but it was always something to remind her of this fun day with you.

whenever you have nightmares, she'll probably wake up, and will wake you up. she'll get you whatever you need, whether it be water, something to eat, or just a hug and kiss.
and like ei, she'd probably get you visits with special doctors to help with your nightmares, even if she knows it won't help. she just wants you to know and feel like she's trying, because she is. she just has a difficult time expressing her love and concern, because all of her emotions even remotely similar to those were oppressed when she was a child. it's only now and with you that she gets to let those emotions flow freely, which is something she's only beginning to get used to.
she doesn't like the fact that you're sleep deprived either, and will obsessively ask you to take small naps with her.
