All of this is gorgeous. Plus Kunikida has a pretty nice palette and looks good with a lot of the characters, so you won't be gouging your eyes out saying "they don't look good together".

Sasaki was Kunikida’s ideal woman but/because of this he was never able to piece together that she was the Azure Apostole, the woman behind the bombings.

In a man, Sasaki admired most fiercely their ideals. Kunikida was the exact image of her dead boyfriend, who killed himself over his ideals instead of staying alive for her, who she helped to turn into a terrorist. She warns him against this as she dies in his arms

When they looked at each other they were both looking at versions–People they both could be, Sasaki for the better and Kunikida for the worse.

I like to think that the tragic thing in kunikida and sasaki comes more from their love being more their ideals than a romance than sasaki dying in his arms. As a romance is so ambiguous, they fell for each other because the other was a mirror of their ideals, or is hinted that kunikida was so alike to the azure king, she felt for his strongs principles and by who he was at some point more than who he seemed to be but for kunikida was love in a way, fleeting and demolishing that kept torturing him to the very day to keep her memory alive, he went to her with an open heart and that's what cemented it, he was eager to be open to her and she shared his feelings, spoke her mind to him, they had that intimacy that deep down came from different places even so alike that's tragic and beautiful

No matter with who you ship Kunikida, my headcanon is that Kunikida is the one who made a mariage proposal. Not the way around.

Kunikida is the one who asked for mariage. With the knee and all. Because whoever is his other half, the said other half KNOW that Kunikida wanted to marry at a specific time of his life and how his schedule is important, hé still MAY decide to marry sonner (and probably will), but that's not the point. The point is, bro need time. It's not about "who is brave enough to ask for mariage first", no, it's about letting Kunikida the time to prepare himself mentally for mariage so he doesn't have to decide in a split second between his schedule (really important for him, he litteraly comited crime for it, atp this required professional ilattention) and not saying no to his precious.

Ok there's also the fact that I have a hard time picturing some character asking for mariage like wouldn't.
