Could you possibly explain noun incorporation? I know that's a pretty broad and general question, but I want to use it in my language because it's common among a set of languages mine takes influence from. Like, just in general if you know of any examples and why or how it's used in languages? I've been researching it, but it's kind of hard to understand (for someone who's still kinda new to conlanging in general). Thank you for reading!
Yeah, check this out (just using English words as stand ins with a grammar that lacks articles). You can say this:
I eat potatoes with fork.
And that’s long. You can also say:
Now imagine this applies to generally across the language, and it can work metaphorically. So, for example,
I give man time. “I give a man my time.”
Suddenly you have a new verb “time-give” that’s useful.
Some languages also have required object incorporation for words that have to do with motion. Like there’s a verb “go”, but you can’t use it by itself: It has to be “boat-go” or “horse-go” or “foot-go”, etc. And that’s just the way of it.
