kuroo's keeping an eye on you at all times, watching you have fun with your friends. but as soon as you stumble on your way over to him, he's quick to catch you and sit you down next to him, a warm, possessive hand on your waist, "woah there. you okay, sweetheart?"

sakusa is like a jaguar, silently tracking all your movements, making sure you're okay. he'll sit in the section, guarding all your stuff if you want. but if you want to dance with him or you're only out with him, he's behind you, hands on your waist as you dance, or guiding you with a hand in yours when you need to go to the bathroom or get another drink.

he's on you all night, keeping a watchful eye on you. he knows you so well, you don't even need to say anything.

when you lean into him and look up at him, a dramatic pout on your lips, he knows your feet are hurting you. he silently guides you to sit down, spreading his legs cause he knows you prefer to sit in his lap or at least have a leg over his. you get clingy when you drink and he knows this.

he leans in to talk in your ear, "30 more minutes and we head out." it's said like a suggestion but he knows that's what you want, you'll want to get in your pjs soon. you nod and lean into him and he kisses your forehead.

thunder, lightning, and rain make for a hectic combo. especially at three am.

the boom of nearby thunder startles kuroo awake, sitting up in a scramble to figure out what on earth that could have been. he rules out the neighbors, considering they’re elderly and keep to themselves. he knows it couldn’t have been anything inside his own apartment, nothing he owns is heavy enough.

just as he closes his eyes once more, thunder roars again.

he sits up fully now, heart racing just a bit from being woken up so intensely. blurry eyes look around for his phone on the nightstand where he left it hours earlier, and he unlocks it as quick as he can. kuroo’s fingers barely stumble out text to you, and he hopes he doesn’t wake you.

but, and he’s the first to admit it, he’s scared.

kuroo knows it’s bad for him, he knows he will be awake for the rest of the night, but he needs a distraction. he turns on the tv in his room, flicks the lamp on, and tries to drown out the noise around him. he winces when he notices you calling.

“hi,” his voice is tired, a little worried, and soft. “did i wake you?”

“no,” your voice is just as tired. “some thunder got to me first,” you yawn. “i thought of you, though. are you okay?”

there’s a pause.

“i know you hate storms.”

he sighs. he does, but he doesn’t want to talk about that.

“what did you do today?”

you snort from the other end. “it’s okay to be scared of storms.”

kuroo says nothing. you sigh.

“i worked, and after work i went to the grocery store. they didn’t have what i needed so i went to a different one. then i came home, unloaded everything, made some dinner, and did some laundry. i actually think i fell asleep on the couch at some point. what about you, tetsu?”

the entire time you spoke, he sat with his eyes closed. losing himself in your voice, letting it comfort him like no other thing could in the moment. lightning illuminates his room as you get your question out, and he yawns.

“work as well. we also had a company dinner at that new bar a few doors down from that tea shop you like. then i went home, cleaned up the kitchen a bit, watched the last few minutes of a practice match and went to bed,” he yawns again. “was actually sleeping quite well until this whole show.”

you laugh, and he smiles. he braces himself for another rumble of thunder, but he doesn’t hear it.

“why don’t you tell me a story?”

“a story?” you yawn, and he frowns a little.

“you don’t have to, it’s late. i’m just…it’s okay. don’t-“

“how about i tell you about my sisters new boyfriend? oh my, i just…”

he closes his eyes again, and gets comfortable. he focuses on your voice, laughing and gasping at each bit of information you give him. he feels his heart rate slow, finally becoming tired once more.

and when he falls asleep on the other line, you wish him goodnight with a smile. you hang up, put your phone back, and fall asleep hoping he wakes you up again sometime soon.

Meeting the Team

Kuroo x Gn!Reader

Synopsis: Kuroo takes you along to his practice to meet the Nekoma team.

You've been dating Kuroo for a few months now, and things have been going great. He's always been really supportive of your interests, and you love watching him play volleyball. One day, he invites you to one of his team's practices.

You're excited to see Kuroo in action, but you're also a bit nervous to meet his teammates. You've heard a lot about them from Kuroo, and you're not sure if they'll like you.

As you enter the gym, Kuroo takes your hand and leads you over to his teammates. They all greet you warmly, and you're relieved to see that they seem to like you.

Kuroo introduces you to each of them, and you can tell that he's proud to have you there. He shows you around the gym and explains some of the team's strategies, and you can't help but feel impressed by his knowledge and dedication.

As practice starts, you take a seat on the sidelines and watch as Kuroo and his teammates work together. You can see the bond between them, and you're happy to be a part of it.

After practice, the team gathers around you and Kuroo. They thank you for coming and tell you that they hope to see you again soon. Kuroo wraps his arm around your waist and pulls you close, and you can't help but feel grateful for him and the amazing team he's a part of.

From that day on, you become a regular at Kuroo's practices, cheering him and his teammates on as they work towards their goals. And as you watch them play, you know that you're lucky your boyfriend is a part of such an incredible team.

kenma is usually the one who would be falling asleep on you as he likes to be held while he’s playing video games. you sit behind him with your arms wrapped around his midsection as he quietly plays into the night. sometimes you’ll lean your head into his back or on his shoulder when you’re starting to feel tired. he’ll know that you’ve fallen asleep when your weight fully leans into him and your breathing pattern is smooth and steady. sometimes he wishes you would just tell him when you’re tired but he knows that you try to wait up for him and he finds that endearing. he puts down his controller to carefully shift you off of his back, laying your head down in his lap before switching to a more relaxing game to help you sleep. he’ll occasionally run a hand over your head to lull you to sleep as you nuzzle into his leg.

bokuto likes when you both get to stay up late together and would want you to stay awake for as long as possible. one time you decided to watch a scary movie together and his exact words were, “please, babe, you have to stay awake or else i won’t make it through this,” with his little pouty face. you simply pat his, now deflated, hair and reassure him that you probably wouldn’t fall asleep during a scary movie. well, you made it about an hour in until you start to doze off in his arms, under the blanket. meanwhile, he’s fearing for his life as he holds you tightly against him. by the end of it, he was so scared that he thought you were dead since you slept so soundly through that. he wakes you up by shaking you gently, pleading for you to let him sleep in bed with you. even tired, you’re still amused as you remind him that you share a bed every night. 

nishinoya would try to keep you from dozing off as you’re trying to stay up late together. he’d poke you, nudge you, even squish your cheeks to try to keep your attention. he’d eventually give up as he feels the weight of your head fall fully onto his shoulder. he looks down as you shift around to get more comfortable, nuzzling your head against his shoulder. his feels warmth everywhere inside of him as you lay on him, enjoying the sound of your soft breathing. he grins to himself, “aww, someone must really be sleepy, hmm?” before kissing the top of your head. once it’s time to get in bed, he almost hates to wake you up but wants to make sure you get to do your little nighttime routine. he gently calls you awake, helping you off the couch by the hand and leading you to your room with his hands on your shoulders, playfully steering you. 

oikawa would probably make fun of you if you fell asleep on him, especially if you were watching something together. he’d let you sleep but would never let you hear the end of it after the fact. he’d ask you what you thought of the movie or show and then when you say something affirmative about it, he claps back with, “you mean the part that you saw before you fell asleep?” he doesn’t say it to be critical, he just likes to mess around with you. you can bet that he’ll hold you to it when you promise to stay awake next time. unfortunately, that next time happens to be when you’ve had a physically taxing day but you want to keep your word to him, trying your hardest to stay awake as you sit next to him. he realizes that you’re fighting the urge to let your head fall onto his shoulder so he turns off the tv and decides that you need sleep more than he wants you to stay awake, guiding you to bed and tucking you in.
